Swiss Reinsurance Building - the Gherkin
The Swiss RE Building in the city. Also know as the Gherkin.
Winner of the RIBA Stirling Prize 2004 for its architecture.
47 floors and 179.8 meters high, and 76,400 meters of space.
Built on ecological principals the building uses half the power a traditionally shaped and built tower would consume.
Designed by Foster and Partners and constructed between 2001 and 2004.
