Field Marshal Sir George Stuart White VC, GCB, OM, GCSI, GCMG, GCIE, GCVO.
1835 - 1912.
He won the Victoria Cross On the 6th October 1879 at Charasiah in India during the
Afghan war. At the time he was the second in commander of the Gordon Higlanders. At Charasiah
he led a force of men that were out number by a ratio of 8:1 by the enemy.
When hope seemed lost he personally shot dead the opposing leader and the
opposing army fled.
