St. Thomas's Tower, named after Thomas a Becket (a constable), was constructed between 1275-1279
by Edward I
It was used as the Kings private living quarters and was joined to Wakefield
Tower by a bridge. Henry VI was imprisoned in the Tower of London died in
the tower on May 21, 1471 after being murdered. An Altar marks the spot
where he died. Hugely renovated in 1532 for the coronation of Anne
Boleyn. Once again renovated in the 1860's and is much in the same state now
as it was after that restoration.
