| Description:
The Durrants Hotel, a Georgian Townhouse hotel, is located in central London and in the heart of Marylebone
and close to Oxford Street, one of the countries busiest and best shopping areas
in terms of variety and sheer numbers of shops per square foot of space. Oxford
Street marks a boundary of the quieter Marylebone area to the North and the
lively West End area to the South. Also a
very short walk away is Marylebone High Street, with a good range of shops and
bars. This end George is relatively quiet without although is a semi-busy cut
through route for traffic around the area. Regents Park is just 1/3 of a mile to
the North while Hyde Park is just under half a mile to the west. Bond Street
with its quality jewellery and designer fashion shops is 0.35 miles to the
south. The hotel is actually adjacent to the Wallace Collection which is a very
popular art attraction in London. Other local places of interest include Wigmore Hall Classical music Venue (0.2 miles), Madame Tussauds (0.3 miles),
Michael Faraday Museum
(0.7 miles), Pollocks Toy Museum (0.8 miles), Trocadero centre (0.9 miles), London Zoo (1.2 miles), British
Museum (1.2 miles), Buckingham Palace (1.3 miles) and Covent Garden (1.3 miles). Furnished throughout by 18th century antiques, lots of dark wood panelling and Victorian military prints, paying homage to the Durrants Hotel Georgian and Victorian past. The hotel has its own individual character and charm offering a traditional English style. The entrance hall features an Edwardian post box. Privately owned hotel. All bedrooms are decorated pleasant prints and classic English fabrics with handmade Savoir hand made beds. Some rooms also have antique furniture and air-conditioning. Other amenities include Wake Up Calls, high speed internet access, Trouser Press, Direct Dial Phone, bottled water, In-room Safe and satellite television. Each bedroom has a marble bathroom with bath/shower, top brand toiletries supplied and a hairdryer. Economy single rooms have a shower only. Hotel has junior suites and full suites. Hotel has a room service. Smoking is not permitted in any of the bedrooms. Dining: Durrants Grill Room: In keeping with the hotels style the restaurant has a traditional charm with a decor of polished wood panelling, crystal chandelier wall lights, leather banquettes and gilt framed paintings. The restaurant is very much at the heart of the hotel. Cuisine is British Classic with a contemporary twist. à la carte an daily menus (menu changes on a regular basis). Extensive wine list on offer. Serves lunch and diner 7 days a week. George Bar: Intimate and cosy. Wood panelled with leather chairs with a real coal fireplace complete with period black iron gate. Sophisticated feel and serves cocktails and a full range of drinks. Breakfast is served as a room service, Full English of Continental. Tea can be enjoyed in the hotels lounge. Onsite the Durrants hotel features include business facilities (including meeting facilities) and full concierge services (including theatre bookings). Reception is manned 24/7. Luggage storage is available. Guests can use the dedicated ironing room. No smoking in any part of the hotel. |

| History: Among the oldest surviving hotels in London. Durrants was originally a conversion of four adjoining Georgian townhouses in 1789, opening as an Inn in 1790 and named after its first owner, a Mr Durrant. It has been enlarged further over the years. Has been owned by the Miller family since 1921. |
