The Bloc Hotel Gatwick is a new tech hotel for the 21st century that first opened at the start of April 2014. A hotel where your smartphone can control the high–tech enabled bedrooms. Lock/unlock your door, change the room lighting, adjust the air–conditioning or simply change your TV channel, all via your own smartphone and the hotels ap. Don't have a smartphone? no worries, Bloc has that covered by embedding Samsung tablets into the bedroom wall to allow control of all these functions. The high tech ethos flows throughout the hotel so things such as billing and check–in/check–out are all automated via the app. Again if you don't have or want to use the app then the reception has self–serve kiosks for the check–in process. This means you can be sure your check–oput will never be delayed due to a long queue at reception. In the same vein conventional TV remotes and door keycards are provided as an alternative to the use of the app and smartphone.All bedrooms feature sound proofing, king size bed, electric window blinds, Egyptian cotton linens, ambient lighting, water, and complimentary high–speed wifi. The bathrooms have a walk–in monsoon drench shower along with supplied towels and toiletries.
Corner rooms are larger than standard, have upgraded amenities and feature airport runway and surrounding countryside views.
There I a dedicated floor just for business rooms which have workdesks instead of drop–down bunks as in family rooms (although these transform into a workdesk when folded ).

Wireless internet access can be picked up throughout the hotel. Guests are able to check–in flight luggage the night before their flight when staying at the hotel. Guests wishing to park at the hotel can use the airports own parking facilities (charges apply). Smoking is not allowed. Hotel has a lift and is fully air–conditioned.

Nearest: Railway Station: Gatwick Airport 0.1 miles (0.2 km), Motorway: M23 Junction 9a 0.5 miles (0.8 km).Not much you can say about the Bloc Gatwick hotels location other than superb. The hotel is actually part of the South Terminal and occupies a former office block that sits on the top of the terminal. The hotel is right by the departures hall. Even better is that even if you are travelling from the north terminal there is a free monorail that runs between the terminals and stops actually inside each terminal. Have no fear about access as the hotel is on the landside of the terminal, so this is before customs allowing fully free movement into and out of Gatwick Airport. All of the landside facilities are open to guests which means near 24/7 restaurants and shops. If you want to venture out a little further than the towns of Horley (1 mile) and Crawley (2.5 miles) have a good range of facilities on offer (notably Crawley Leisure Complex).
