Introduction: Between Cockfosters
and Potters Bar and within 35 acres of its own open grounds is the
West Lodge Park. In the northern part of Barnet which is a north
London suburb with is a middle to upper class residential area. Just
under 1 mile to the south is Trent Park Country Park which is 3.8
km² and joins onto Trent Park Golf Course. There is a golf course
even nearer to the hotel, Hadley Wood Golf course which is 0.3 miles
away. Its just over 2 miles to the west for the high street shopping
in Barnet. The M25 motorway which encircles London is just over 1
mile to the north giving good links also to the the M11, M1 and M4
motorways. Just over 1 mile from the hotel is Cockfosters tube
station which goes directly into central London (around 30 minutes)
and out to Heathrow airport. Local attractions include Barnet Museum
(2.2 miles), Potters Bar Museum (2.4 miles), Myddelton House Gardens
(4.2 miles) (view unusual plants) and Capel Manor Gardens (4.4
miles) (series of themed gardens).
Hotel:
The West Lodge Park is a country mansion, though not strictly in the
country, none the less the surrounding areas helps to create just
such a feel. With its tree lined front drive and extensive
landscaped grounds the hotel provides grandeur accommodation in its
north London location. The extensive grounds contain an arboretum
(open 14.00 till 17.00) with 100's of different shrubs' and trees
(over 800) as well as a national collection of Hornbeam and Eleagnus.
The hotel is also home to the Edward Beale collection of old master
paintings and has an extensive collection of 17th century portraits.
Each of the guest rooms is decorated individually and comes with
en-suite facilities (power shower, top brand toiletries). In-room amenities include
flat screen television with freeview channels, complimentary wireless
internet access, Trouser Press, Iron, tea/Coffee Maker, Safety
Deposit Box, Radio, Wake Up Service/Alarm Clock,
Telephone, heating, Work Desk, and Hairdryer.
Some bedrooms have four poster beds and many have views over the
hotel gardens. A room service is available.
Executive and Four poster bedrooms have a walk-in shower in the majority of
rooms. They also come with bathrobes and slippers, more toiletries and views
over the grounds and Enfield Chase, Egyptian cotton linen sheets.
Luxury bedrooms come with Hypnos beds, air-conditioning and stocked
mini-fridge. Four of the luxury rooms have a private patio area.
All guests in Chestnut Lodge (housing some of the luxury rooms) have
exclusive access to their own private Jacuzzi and sauna area.

Dining:
The Mary Beale Restaurant: Contemporary setting with a feel of the
hotels traditional origins with original Mary Beale paintings on the wall.
Mary Beale was Britain's first professional woman painter. The restaurant
offers a formal a la carte dining experience. Also serves breakfast, light
menu and lunch. Most Fridays and weekends the hotel has a resident pianist
providing background music.
Open: breakfast 07.00 till 09.30 (weekends 08.00 till 10.00), lunch 12.30
till 14.00, dinner 19.00 till 21.30 (Saturday 19.00 till 22.00, Sunday 19.00
till 21.00). Light menu served 10.00 till 10.45 (Saturday till 18.00, Sunday
residents only).
The
Terrace hotel bar serves light meals and snacks. The bar is also
where English afternoon tea is served and on the open terrace weather
permitting. Served 14.30 till 18.00 (Sunday 15.30 till 18.00).
7 meeting and function rooms cater for gatherings from small to
large (up to 64).
Hotel guests have entrance passes to a nearby leisure club.
Reception remains open 24/7. The hotel has free WiFi internet access throughout.
