Introduction: The Grainstore
Apartments enjoys a location right in front of the West side of the
ExCel exhibition centre. This area is known as the Royal Victoria
Docks and is just east of the Docklands and Canary Wharf areas (2
miles) where many large companies are now choosing to setup their
headquarters. The immediate area offers some amenities in the way of
bars and restaurants and a grocery store but a wider choice is
available as you travel west into the Docklands and on into the City
of London (5 miles). Central London itself is some 7 miles away.
Road links however are excellent as its basically a straight run
along the River Thames via the main roads of the A1011, A1261 Aspen
Way, A1203 The Highway and A1211 Lower and Upper Thames Street.
These are basically one straight run. The major attraction of the
Millennium Dome/O2 centre is just over 1 mile away on the south side
of the Thames. The popular market and shopping area of Green Street
E13 with its Asian oriented flavour is 1.5 miles to the North.
Billingsgate Market fish market, the largest in England is 1.7 miles
to the East on the outskirts of the Docklands. Also worth a visit is
Gallions Reach Shopping Centre, the first purpose built retail park
to be built within the M25 and covering some 60 acres with top High
Street stores. This also a great location for City Airport
accommodation being within 1 mile of the airport.
Apartments:
The Grainstore Apartments was once a series of Victorian warehouse stores for Grain (and thus
the apartments name) but since 2005 are now spacious luxury
apartments housed in a grade II listed building. The north and
south sides are the original facades.
All the apartments are of a contemporary design and each have a
balcony. Inside you will find a fitted kitchen with utensils and
cooking facilities provided such as microwave, cooker, fridge,
dishwasher and washing machine. They have a separate living room
furnished with leather chairs and the floor is wooden.
Amenities
include free WiFi internet access, flat screen TV with digital channels,
tea/coffee facilities, iron/ironing board, DVD player, double
glazing, individually controlled heating, alarm clock and direct
dial telephone with voicemail. Private bathrooms for each apartment
come with a power shower, supplied toiletries, towels and there is
also a hairdryer. Video entry phone system with CCTV. Master
bedrooms have fitted wardrobes. Living area has leather sofas. Bathrooms have a
power shower. Linen and towels provided.
The apartments have various configurations of 1,2 or 3 bedrooms. All
enjoy views over one of the two central courtyards. The 3 bedrooms
are the penthouses on the top level while the 2 bedrooms have two
bathrooms and some are duplex.
There is a maid service 2 days per week.
The apartments have lift access to each floor.
Concierge and dry cleaning services provided. There is a front
reception desk that is staffed during limited hours.
