One of the closet hotels to the Olympic Stadium and Olympic
Village makes the City View Hotel in east London a good choice for
accommodation on a budget. Its not just the being close to the Olympic
Stadium that's great about this area but the hotel sits on Roman Road. This
is the central point in an area that has a huge range of shops, bars and
restaurants and perhaps best known as the location for Roman Road Market
(also known for its fish and chips). The areas history goes all the way back
to medieval times and is the point of the oldest know trading route in
Britain. The market is open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. You have good
access to south London from here by road since the A12 is only a 1/3rd of a
mile to the east and is the approach road to the
Blackwall Tunnel.
Places of interest close by include the Ragged School Museum (0.9 miles)
which was once London's biggest Ragged School and today gives its visitors a
taste a slice of Victorian life. Just over 1 mile away from the hotel is the
V&A Museum of Childhood which is the national collection of childhood
related displays. Columbia Road Flower Market is 1.7 miles from the hotel
and also worth a visit is Whitechapel Art Gallery at 2 miles away. The huge
Victoria park is only 400 yards to the north.
City View Hotel Details:
For many years the building was a traditional London pub, being called the
Needle Gun and the lastly The Trader. The
City View Hotel is now an east London bed and breakfast budget hotel. What
you get is a vibrant location with plenty to do. Bow Road underground
station is just a ten minute walk away and will get you to central London
and the main tourist areas within 30 minutes.
Bedrooms while basic do offer free wireless internet access and flat screen
digital television. You will also find a CD and DVD player, tea/coffee
facilities and a seating area. Other amenities include safety depsoit box,
ironing facilities, fan, heater and fridge.
Most bedrooms their own bathroom, though a few have a shared bathroom.
Guests share a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering, and a lounge area
that has a flat screen TV. Full English breakfast is served daily.

Note:
Be careful when looking for the hotel that there are a couple of other
nearby hotel with the same name. One of these is also on Roman Road itself
so make sure you find the City View Hotel with the address of 527 Roman
Road.
