Introduction: The Menzies Chequers Gatwick Hotel is located in Horley, some 1.5 miles to the North of the airport. Actually on the A23 which is the main dual carriageway between The airport and central London. Although close to airport the hotel is not on the regular flight path. Horley is a rapidly growing residential town in Surrey. The area has a few local amenities such as the The Farmhouse Tavern Pub Restaurant just 200 yards to the east from the hotel. Over the road is a petrol station where you can but some grocery items. The nearest attraction is Gatwick Zoo at 3.6 miles. The local station at Horley is around half 45 minutes journey time from central London.

Hotel:
The Menzies Chequers building itself has a long history dating right back to the 1500's when it was a Coaching Inn during the Tudor period, serving travellers all that time ago. Much of the original features and style are still retained such as the Oak Beams. The hotel is decorated in a traditional style.
Bedroom are en-suite (with shower) and amenities include cable TV with pay movies, Central heating, Hairdryer, Direct Dial telephone, Modem connection, Desk with Lamp, Trouser Press and Coffee/tea maker.

The Kingsley Restaurant: A La Carte Restaurant. Serves contemporary cuisine in an air-conditioned environment and also serves breakfast. Seasonal ingredients. Next to the restaurant is a cocktail bar. Open 06.30 till 09.30 (Saturday till 10.00, Sunday 07..00 till 10.30), Dinner 19.00 till 21.45.
Chequer's Bar: Traditional English pub with an Elizabethan styled decor and informal atmosphere. The bar features an open fireplace and a low Oak Beam ceiling. Serves a bar menu alongside the drinks between noon and 19.00. Open 11.00 till 23.00 (Sunday noon till 22.30).
For the business traveller the hotel has eight air-conditioned meeting rooms that can accommodate up to eighty guests theatre style. All make use of natural daylight. Facilities on offer include copy and fax and email via internet.
