Close by: Although this is some 8 miles outside of
central London you are still surrounded by excellent amenities covering
everything form shops, bars, restaurants and supermarkets to leisure parks.
The Travelodge London Whetstone
is on the High Road that stretches from East Finchley to High Barnet, a distance
of some 4 miles. In-between the stretches of retail shops are residential
properties and this part of London (north London) is very much a well off
residential area. The High Road is part of several major bus routes as well as
being close to Totteridge and Whetstone tube station (10 minutes walk) on the northern line which
will get you to central London with no changes of train needed. There's a large
Marks and Spencer's supermarket right by the Travelodge. Just 2 miles down the
High Road towards East Finchley is the Great Northern Leisure Complex with
cinemas, bowling alley and restaurants. There's also a Tennis club close by.
Also of note is Friary Park (1.2 miles), Barnet Museum (1.6 miles), Trent Park (2.2 miles) and Museum of
Jewish Life (2.7 miles). The major event destination of Alexandra palace is 3.4
miles way. The RAF Museum with an excellent range of past war planes on exhibit
is 3.7 miles way in Hendon. Road links are excellent with the North Circular
A406 2 miles to the south and the M25 motorway 3.5 miles to the north. This is
leafy London suburb with no less than 10 golf courses within 3 miles, the closet
being South Herts Golf Course (0.4 miles) and North Middlesex Golf Course (0.6
miles).
