Vicinity: The Premier Inn Southwark sits in a nice little
location at the southern end of the South Bank. This puts its yards from the
banks of the River Thames and within walking distance of a host of well known
places of interest and attractions. Another big plus is that the hotel is just
over 100 yards from Southwark Bridge which leads up to the City of London, the
financial area and also known as the square mile. The river location makes for
some nice walks along its banks with dedicated walking areas and many
restaurants lining the route. The south bank is the stretch of the southern side
of the river Thames along its banks between Southwark bridge and Westminster
bridge and its where you will find Shakespeare Globe Theatre and Museum, the
Tate Modern Art Gallery, National Theatre, Hayward gallery, Saatchi Gallery and
the
London Eye. The
Premier Inn is only 5 minutes walk from London Bridge Station. Next to the hotel
is the Vinopolis City Of Wine, the first ever adult attraction dedicated to the
world of wine. It also houses the Southwark Information Centre. The main areas
for night life in London's west end around Piccadilly Circus can be walked in
around 30 minutes using the nearby bridges. Just 300 to the west along the south
bank is Bankside pier which is part of the
River Bus services
making the hotel accessible but all transport modes. Millennium Bridge which is
just past Bankside Pier enable your to cross from the south side of the river to
the north side and to St Pauls on foot. Within 200 yards of the hotel is Clink
Prison Museum which is dedicated to the former prison that stood here and
holding prisoners till 1780. Next to the Clink Prison Museum is a full size
replica of the famous sailing ship The Golden Hinde.
Other nearby places of interest include Southwark Cathedral (0.1 miles), Bramah
Tea and Coffee Museum (0.2 miles), Borough market (for food from around the
globe (open Thu-Sat))(0.2 miles) and the London Dungeon (0.3 miles). Always
worth a visit is St Katherine Docks which is just the other side of Tower
Bridge.
