Introduction: Occupying a location on
the south side of the River Thames and close to busy high street shopping is the
Church Street Hotel London. Well placed for the Kennington Oval (1.3 miles)
where many big cricket games are played. This particular part of SE5 is known as
Camberwell Green ( a small recreation green area with children's playground) and
going north along Camberwell Road and Walworth Road from this point finds an
endless number of shops, bars and restaurants. This area if very multicultural
and this reflects in the type of shops and restaurants which cater to many
different tastes and nationalities. Fair to say this part of London
is somewhat downmarket compared to some of the glitzy central London locations
but still has a lot to offer. 1.5 miles at the northern end of Walworth Road is
an area known as Elephant and Castle, a very busy major road junction but also
another shopping centre with entertainment facilities along with the shopping.
Closer to the hotel at just over half a mile is Burgess Park, a large open area
with some woodland and sports facilities for football and tennis. There are good
local transport options with many bus routes running close to the hotel. Other
local attractions include the South London Art Gallery (0.4 miles) and the
Brixton Academy Music Venue (1.2 miles), Brockwell Park Lido (1.8 miles).
Convenient for Kings College Hospital which is 1.1 miles away. 20 minutes from
Waterloo Station.
