Vicinity: The location is Pimlico, just a short walk
(about 10 minutes) from
Victoria station placing the Eccleston Square Hotel close to good transport
links and central London. Although better known for budget hotels Pimlico is a
very popular area due to its convenient location location so close to central
London but not quite within the busiest areas and retaining good links to all
parts of London. Victoria is one of the 5 main railway stations for London and
its from here that you can catch the direct service out to Gatwick Airport, the
Gatwick Express. Its also on the Piccadilly line for the tube network which
runs a service out to Heathrow Airport. The run to Heathrow takes around 45

Pimlico itself is mostly former Victorian/Georgian residences now converted into

of the square are public tennis courts. Nearest attractions include Westminster
Cathedral on Victoria Street (0.4 miles) and the Queens Gallery by Buckingham

The Eccleston Square Hotel is a 21st century
boutique style hotel
, placing gadgets and high
tech amenities at its core. In contrast to its modern style the building itself
is a Georgian grade II listed, meaning its considered of architectural

History: The Eccleston
Square Hotel opened on July 11 2011 after a complete £6.5 million pound refurbishment and
renovation. It has been previously known as the Elizabeth Hotel when it was a 3
star rated establishment.
The building was constructed from a pair of former 7 floor townhouses (36 and 37
Eccleston Square The site was originally low-lying swamp which was drained in the
early 17th century, it was planned as a three-acre square in 1828 by Thomas
Cubitt (1788-1855).
