Introduction: Located in a prime
section of London, just behind
Trafalgar Square and on the junction of Haymarket itself (which
is home to the Theatre Royal Haymarket which is adjacent to the
hotel) and Suffolk Place. The small turning of Suffolk Place sees a
great deal less traffic than the busy roads that surround it. The
Haymarket Hotel was newly opened on 1st May 2007 housed in a totally
renovated Regency building (originally designed by John Nash).
Actually backing onto the Sainsbury Wing of the
National Gallery which lines the north west corner of Trafalgar
Square. The square is one of the most visited places in London, once
famed for its pigeons, but while some die hards do still feed the
pigeons its not actually permitted any longer. Much of the square is
now pedestrianised and whereas years ago traffic flowed all around
it these days traffic only passes to the south side. Opposite the
hotel is the Sports Bar, a popular evening venue for sports fan who
enjoy a drink since it has no less than 20 screens showing sports
events. From the Haymarket hotels location so much of central London is within
walking distance. From theatreland which lines Shaftesbury Avenue to
the north of Piccadilly Circus (300 yards), The shopping along
Regent Street which runs parallel with Shaftesbury Avenue,
Leicester Square 200 yards to the east or Covent Garden (with
the ever popular piazza) 700 yards from the hotel. The open space of
St James's Park is witnin 300 yards which itself is part of the
grounds to
Buckingham Palace. In a nutshell the hotel is in the centre of
central London surronding by restaurants, bars and shops! Local
places of interest are too numerous to name fully but a selection
include
St James's Palace (0.38 miles),
10 Downing Street (0.4 miles),
Cleopatras Needle (0.45 miles), Michael Faraday Museum (0.49
miles) and London Transport Museum (0.49 miles).
