Best Western Victoria Palace Hotel

Introduction: Within walking distance from the mainline rail station at Victoria is the Best Western Victoria Palace Hotel. The buidling dates from the 1800's and the name is taken from the theatre opposite the station. The station is also the location for the non-stop train to Gatwick Airport named the Gatwick Express. This location is an area with a high density of B&B type properties. Mostly they are converted town houses. This gives the area a residential look and feel. This part of Victoria is known as Pimlico and leads down to the River Thames. A selection of shops can be found on Warwick Way and the adjacent Vauxhall bridge Road, and again a short walk to the South on Lupus Street. The main tourist areas start to the North as you hit Victoria Street. This is a very busy road with a large range of shops, bars and restaurants which leads down to Parliament square and the grounds of Buckingham Palace. Less than a mile to the West is the well known Kings Road Chelsea. This road has established a reputation since the 60's a trend setter in off the wall fashion. In the evening its a busy venue for its many bars and restaurants. Other local attractions include Westminster Cathedral (0.3 miles), Queens Gallery (0.5 miles), Tate Britain (0.6 miles), Buckingham Palace (0.7 miles), Westminster Abbey (0.8 miles), Jewel Tower (0.8 miles) and Wellington Arch (0.8 miles).
