Introduction: The Hotel Rafayel on the left bank is
located just on the south side of the River Thames and just off from the high
Street amenities along Battersea Park Road n(0.7 miles). While Battersea offers
plenty of shops, bars and restaurants its less than a mile to the upmarket and
trendy shopping and entertainment along the Kings Road, Chelsea. The Kings Road
can easily be accessed using either Wandsworth or Battersea Bridge. However on
the same side of the river and offering far more than Battersea is Clapham and
Clapham Common which is within 1.5 miles. Three quarters of a mile to the east
of the Hotel Rafayel is Battersea Park, a 200 acre open area where duels used to take place way back

One of the first new generation hotels with an environmentally friendly approach
and coined as Eco hotels, opened December 2009. The Hotel Rafayel on the left
bank features unique and pioneering Philips designed LED lighting schemes with
low energy light bulbs, low energy consumption air-conditioning with excess heat
transferred to other parts of the building, state of the art ventilation with up
to 70% heat recovery efficiencies, planting of Bamboo which releases 35% more
oxygen than a tree, captured rain water is used for irrigation, synthetic wood
dootrs composed of 90% sustainable veneered mahogany, recycled leather
furnishings, eco friendly dry cleaners, electronic newspapers, all glass and
paper is recycled and a hotel wide no plastic policy. Hotel Rafayel is near
paperless. In the bedrooms, Sp and and public areas the hotel uses all natural
and organic products.
The hallways leading to the bedrooms are 2 meters wide.
Each bedroom has a Hypnos bed which are recycled with a zero landfill and zero
carbon footprint process and makes use of natural daylight. The minibars are
filled with organic and fair-trade items. In-room amenities include floor to
ceiling windows, touch glass panels (for door entry, lighting and
air-conditioning control), media hub (connects Ipod, laptop etc to TV and audio
system), flush ceiling speakers for audio in bedroom and bathroom, personal
digital frame, 32" flat screen TV (with digital channels, internet, movies,
check-out service), complimentary WiFi, cordless telephone, tea/coffee
facilities with organic an fair-trade products, DVD player, laptop size safe and
blackout curtains.
Bathrooms have 'Roca' porcelain fittings, Murano glass mosaic tiles, natural
product toiletries and have body spray showers. Larger rooms have hydrotherapy
baths.

The Rafayel hotel has a 12 guest capacity boardroom with state of the art
technology. There is also a 150 guest capacity event room on the 3rd floor.

History: On 19th August 2010 the
hotel had to be evacuated (120 guests) after a fire broke out in the basement
car park. The initial cause thought to be a car catching light. The hotel closed
for one week for repairs, there were no injuries resulting from the fire. 6 cars
and 4 motorcycles were damaged in the car park.
