Introduction: The Rockwell Hotel is actually located on
the Cromwell Road, a major road and also called the A4 dual carriageway which
brings traffic into central London from the west. This also links directly with
Heathrow airport meaning a road access to the airport is around 20 minutes. The
road is also used by many bus routes and London taxis are always passing. The
nearest major shopping area is Kensington High Street 0.4 miles to the north
although there are many shops and stores even closer such as on Earls Court Road
which is just 200 yards away. The manor exhibition centre sharing the same name
of Earls Court is less than half a mile to the west. In many ways the hotels
location marks the start of central London although the very centre would be
Piccadilly Circus some 2.7 miles to the east. Being slightly outside of the most
central parts means the hotel provides somewhat cheaper location than otherwise
but still giving good access into the major tourist areas. There are no less
than 10 tube stations within 1 mile. Local places of interest include the
Dr Who Tardis
(0.2 miles),
Linley Sambourne House (0.44 miles),
Leighton house museum (0.6 miles),
Kensington Palace (0.7 miles) and
Holland Park
(0.7 miles).
