Introduction: The Travelodge Uxbridge Central is well
named as that's exactly where it is, in the heart of this medium sized town.
Uxbridge has a population around 65,000 and has a large number of shops, retails
outlets and offices making up its core. Indeed within 150 yards of the hotel are
two major shopping malls, The Mall shopping centre and Chimes shopping centre.
Just in front of Chimes shopping centre on Saturdays is a farmers fresh food
market. Excellent transport links with Uxbridge Tube Station less than 150 yards
away and the local bus station is just behind the hotel. The centre of town is
geared towards shoppers and pedestrians with much of it closed to traffic and a
major High Street is close to the hotel. Within 1.5 miles is Colne Valley Park,
an area of countryside with no less than 40 lakes, more than 50 miles of canal
waterways, woodland and farms. The Travelodge is also convenient for Pinewood
film studios which is 2.5 miles to the west. Using the nearby A408 access to
Heathrow Airport by road is some 10 minutes/6.3 miles away by road. Both the M25
motorway (junction 15) and the M4 motorway (junction 4b) are 2.4 miles from the
hotel. This part of greater London is rich in golf courses with some 20 courses
within 5 miles. The nearest is Heath park Golf Course in West Drayton at 1.9
miles.

History: Newly opened in August 2008 after being the first building to pioneer a
new cheaper construction method. Modules or pods (ready made sections of the
hotel) were imported from China with each module being bolted together to form
the complete building which is then cladded on its exterior. The complete
building can be unbolted in the same way and reassembled elsewhere.
