Introduction: The building itself was built in 1919 and was originally a block of stately apartments. The building has been the Marriott Park Lane Hotel since November 2003. Its location is superb for access to central London. Its actually by Marble Arch, on the edge of Mayfair and opposite the magnificent Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. Mayfair is one of the UK's most exclusive areas home to the rich and famous and with many international companies choosing to have offices here as a Mayfair address is prestigious the world over. Sitting at the North end of Park Lane which has more 5 star hotels located on or around it than any other road in the UK. Hyde Park is adjacent to Kensington Gardens and together they form a huge open space with enough to see and do to keep the family entertained for hours on end. Weather permitting you can take a rowing boat out into the Serpentine Lake at the parks heart. Local riding scores hire our horses they can be ridden around dedicated paths within the park. There are several places to eat and scores of monuments, statues and botanical gardens dotted around while Kensington gardens is home to the Princess Diana memorial. Marble Arch has a long history and once was home to hangings taking place in London. It also marks the start of Oxford Street which runs East from this location. Oxford is one of Europe's highest densities of shopping square footage and is geared very much to the visiting tourist. Within Mayfair is Bond Street (0.5 miles), famed for its designer and high quality fashion shops and boutiques and also for high quality jewellery shops. Just North of the hotel and Marble Arch is Edgware Road where a high concentration of middle east geared shops and restaurants can be found.
