Introduction: The Days Hotel Hyde Park sits in a triangle
between 3 popular areas. The first is Paddington Station which is just a short
walk of around 200 yards from the hotel. One of the main railway stations in
London and start/finish point for the
Heathrow Express which runs non-stop out to Heathrow Airport. Its at the end
of Praed Street which has a range of small shops and some bars. 1/4 of a mile to
the south is
Hyde Park. A large
open space with lots of landscaped garden areas, statues, snacks bars as well as
a lake with boating (in good weather) and the
Serpentine Gallery. Just under half a mile to the east is the Edgware Road.
Part of the A5 this is a long road that runs down to
Marble Arch
and is lined with a whole range of shops, big and small along with restaurants,
bars and other amenities. This area is particularly popular with visitors from
the middle east and this is reflected in the shops and restaurants (even banks)
that you will find there. The hotel is on Sussex Gardens which can be busy but
is not a main road. There are no shops actually on the road which is mainly a
residential area. This part of London has a high number of B&B type
accommodation, often in converted former Victorian and Georgian town houses.
Other nearby places of interest include the
Alexandra Fleming laboratory (0.12 miles) and Church Street Market off
Edgware Road (0.5 miles).
