Introduction: The Novotel London
Paddington is just 5 minutes walk from Paddington Station. The hotel
is just behind the station in a development known as the Paddington
Basin. A project that started in 1998 covering 80 acres to provide
residential, commercial, leisure, retail and health facilities.
Paddington Station is one of the 5 major mainline railway stations
in London and is part of the tube network. Perhaps most conveniently
are the two services running to Heathrow airport, the
Heathrow Express ( £18 (online), £19 (ticket machine), £24 (on train) )
which is non-stop and the cheaper Heathrow Connect (£9.10 single, £17.80 return)
which makes stops along the route. While the Novotel Paddington is not quite in
the heart of central London
there are shops, a supermarket and restaurants close to the hotel.
Half a mile to the south west is Queensway where the nearest large
scale/main shopping and amenities can be found. Along this road are
a series of medium size stores, bars and restaurants along with a
covered shopping mall (Whitley's), swimming pool and ice rink.
Slightly further at 0.8 miles to the east is the busy end of Edgware
Road which leads down to Marble Arch. The road is known for its
middle eastern flavoured shops and restaurants. Just north of the
hotel is the residential district of Maida Vale. Through Maida Vale
is Regents Canal where people live on barges moored along the banks.
This has given the area the nickname of Little Venice. Just over
half a mile to the south is
Hyde Park, full of
open spaces and activity areas including a boating lake and a
gallery.

Alexandra Fleming Laboratory (0.4 miles), Church Street Market
(0.5 miles),
MCC Museum (0.8 miles), Portobello Road Antiques Market (0.9
miles), Lords Cricket Ground (0.9 miles) and Abbey Road Recording
Studio (0.9 miles).

Newly opened in 2008 the Novotel Paddington is one of Novotels'
new generation hotels.
While all rooms are en-suite they also has separate shower and bath
along with a hairdryer. Amenities include WiFi internet, i-mac with

Channels and PPV plus games, safe, radio, telephone, and minibar.
Hot and cold dishes by ordered through room service 24 hours. 11
rooms adapted for improved accessibility.
Dining:
Elements Restaurant: Air-conditioned restaurant serves an
international menu. Open: noon till 14.30, 18.00 till 22.00.
Elements Bar: Contemporary style. Not just drinks but also serves a
bar menu of light meals. 06:00 till midnight.
The Novotel Paddington provides a range of leisure amenities that includes an
indoor swimming pool, steam room, sauna and gymnasium (with TV
screens). 24 hour front reception desk. Internet workstation in
lobby.
There are 12 meeting rooms some of which can be doubled up to
provide facilities for up to 150 guests theatre style.
