Local Area: The immediate vicinity of the Mercure London
Kensington Hotel is mostly residential although there is another large hotel
adjacent to the Mercure. The hotel is also just yards from the very busy A4
Cromwell Road. The big plus on that is this is the main link between Heathrow
Airport and central London so if you come into London by car or taxi its a very
easy journey, albeit subject to rush hour traffic. Its also used by several bus
routes with the 74 bus running past the hotel (on Cromwell Road) which links
Putney to Baker Street. The nearby Earls Court Station is on the Piccadilly,
District and Circle lines so connects with all areas of the tube network
including Heathrow Airport. The nearest major shopping can be found along
Kensington High Street (less than half a mile away), Kings Road and
Knightsbridge (both around 1 mile away). The Mercure Kensington backs onto the
Cromwell Hospital, a world famous and highly regarded private hospital. Some
local places of interest include a replica of the Dr Who Tardis outside Earls
Court Station, Linley Sambourne House (0.5 miles), Royal College of Music Museum
(0.5 miles), Natural History Museum (0.6 miles), Kensington Palace (0.6 miles),
Leighton House Museum (0.6 miles), Hyde Park (0.6 miles) and the Science Museum
(0.6 miles). Close to 2 major exhibition centres at Earls Court (0.5 miles) and
Olympia (0.8 miles).
