Introduction: The Parkcity Hotel is on the western side
of what is considered central London. Bordered by Earls Court, Kensington and
South Kensington in a residential side road. The hotel is just off from the
Cromwell Road, better known as the A4 which is a major road linking Heathrow
Airport and central London. It remains busy at all times with many bus routes
running along this section and London taxis aplenty. If you make the journey by
taxi from here to Heathrow expect to take anything between 25 and 45 minutes
depending on the traffic. Local type shopping can be found along Earls Court
Road and Gloucester Road ,which are both around 450 yards from the hotel. Three
major supermarkets within half a mile which are Sainsbury's (Cromwell Road) (0.2
miles), Waitrose (Gloucester Road) (0.3 miles) and a huge Tesco (Cromwell Road)
(0.5 miles). One third of a mile to the east is the upmarket and chic area of
South Kensington. Lots of boutiques and bars and the start of the tourist heart
of London. Some 700 yards to the north of the Parkcity Hotel is Kensington High Street, always popular
for its large selection of shops and cafes, and which leads down to Kensington
Gardens and
Hyde Park (0.5 miles).
1 mile to the south is the Kings Road, Chelsea, made famous in the 60's as a
fashion and trend setter and still offers great nightlife and fashion shops.
This part of London is home to two major exhibition centres, earls Court (0.5
miles) and Olympia (0.8 miles). Some local places of interest include
Baden-Powell House museum (0.4 miles) (a small museum which tells the story of
Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Boy Scout and Girl Guides movements),
Linley Sambourne House (0.5 miles) and the Royal College of Music Museum
(0.5 miles) (over 800 instruments dating back to 1480).

Apollo and the Atlas themselves had become one hotel under the name of the Atlas
Apollo Hotel.
