TRANSFER TO HEATHROW AIRPORT


How to get from Gatwick Airport to Heathrow Airport :

Train:

1: From Gatwick Station under the South Terminal take the Southern Railways service into London Victoria. Transfer onto the tube and take the Circle line into London Paddington Station. Transfer onto the Heathrow Express for your final destination. This involves two fares. Around £11 into Paddington and then £14.50 for the Heathrow Express.
FASTEST: Total journey takes around 85 minutes at a cost of £25.50
2: as above but using the Heathrow Connect service instead of the Express service. The Connect route is slower as it is not non-stop but it is cheaper.
Total journey takes around 93 minutes at a cost of £20.50
3: as option 1 but using the Gatwick Express instead of the Southern Service.
Saves up to 10 minutes but is not available as a through ticket and adds around £7 to the journey.
4: Take the Gatwick Express into London Victoria. Switch to the tube and take the District line into Hammersmith Station. Switch to the Piccadilly Line and take the tube out to Heathrow.
This is not based on a through ticket. 
journey time is around 91 minutes at a cost of around £18.50.
5: as option 4 but using Southern service instead of Gatwick Express
CHEAPEST: Adds 3-10 minutes at  cost £13.90

Coach
National Express run a high frequency service over 100 times a day between Gatwick Airport (North & South Terminals) & Heathrow Airport (Central Bus Stn & Terminal 4). All coaches have an onboard WC and the 200 and 201 have NXTV. Service operates close to 24 hours a day.

Road:
Transfers between Heathrow and Gatwick by road are travelled via the M23/M25/M4 motorways. Leave Gatwick Airport and follow the signs for the M23/M25 North towards London. From the North Terminal head towards the South Terminal and then pick up the M23/M25 signs. Travel for around 10 miles Northbound on the M23 towards London and the M25. Pick up the M25 Clockwise section towards Heathrow and the M4. Stay on the M25 for around 30 miles until you see the sign for either terminal 4 or terminals 1,2,3 and the M4 at the next junction depending on which terminal you need.

Minicab
This option must be pre-booked. Expect to pay around £80 for a standard car for up to 4 passengers. Please note this figure can vary greatly between companies.

Taxi
Chequer Cars who operate out of Gatwick, both terminals with onsite offices were quoting £ standard fare for 2006.

Expect your journey by car/taxi/minicab to take 30-65 minutes.
Expect your coach journey to Gatwick airport to take 50-90 minutes.
The distance from Gatwick Airport to Heathrow Airport is 43 miles/69 km via the M25 or 24.7 miles/39.8 km in a straight line.
