How to get from Gatwick Airport to Heathrow Airport:
For most people the first choice for transfers between Gatwick Airport
and Heathrow Airport will be via National Express Coach. The times are
similar to making the journey by train and very slightly cheaper and
offers the massive advantage of being airport to airport requiring no
transfers between starting point and destination. The main disadvantage
is that the journey is via the M25 motorway which is notorious for
traffic jams.

a few hours sightseeing if your transfer time allows. The second
advantage is that this is the cheapest way to make the transfer between

Train via Central London:
Take the Gatwick Express/Southern Railways train to Victoria train
station. Take the District line tube out to either Earls Court or Hammersmith.
Then switch to the Piccadilly line for the tube ride to Heathrow Airport (all
terminals).
Gatwick to Victoria by train is around
£19.90 (£17.80 online)
Tube fare to Heathrow Airport is £5.90 per adult (£2.90 11-15 yrs). This journey covers London fare zones 2 to 6. The fare would be £2.80 using a
contactless payment peak and £1.50 off peak.

Note: It is possible to reduce the above times by around 15 minutes
taking a tube from Victoria to Paddington station and then
using the Heathrow Express from Paddington to Heathrow Airport but this adds
£22 (online), £22 (ticket machine), £27 (on train) to the cost.
Substituting the
National Express Coach from Gatwick to Victoria for the Gatwick
Express/Southern railways train reduces the cost by £10.90 (the coach is
from £8 )
but adds up to 1 hour to the time.
Road:
Transfers between Heathrow and
Gatwick by road are travelled via the M23/M25/M4 motorways. Leave Gatwick
Airport and follow the signs for the M23/M25 North towards London.
From the North Terminal head towards the South Terminal and then
pick up the M23/M25 signs. Travel for around 10 miles Northbound on
the M23 towards London and the M25. Pick up the M25 Clockwise
section towards Heathrow and the M4. Stay on the M25 for around 30
miles until you see the sign for either terminal 4 or terminals 2 and 3 and the M4 at the next junction depending on which terminal
you need.
Minicab
This option must be pre-booked. Expect to pay around
£100
for a
standard car for up to 4 passengers.

There are onsite taxi firm offices in both terminals. Expect to pay similar to
above minicab rate for a local taxi. Note these are not London black cabs who
