Located close to Hampstead Village is Hampstead Museum within Burgh House. Burgh House itself is a grade I listed Queen Ann house dating from 1703 and is named after the Reverend Allatson Burgh who lived here between 1822 and 1856. Hampstead Museum
occupies the first floor. Not surprisingly Hampstead museum is dedictacted to presenting the history of the local area it is located in, Hampstead. Some of the permanent displays include works by John Constable, Helen Allingham, Isokon and a display locating former famous residents and their residences in Hampstead. Notable features of the house include the carved, The Music Room, The Buttery cafe with views of the garden
(serving delicious homemade meals and traditional cream teas) and a modest sized art gallery show casing work by local artists.

12 noon to 5 pm, Wednesday to Sundays,
Bank Holiday Mondays 2pm to 5pm.
Saturdays viewing is by appointment only.
