The London Transport Museum re-opened on 22nd November 2007 after being
closed for 2 years during a £22 million pound renovation and having been on this
site since 1980. The original building dates back to 1872 when it was used as
part of the Covent Garden Flower Market.
The Museum is all about the London transport system over the last 200 years and
what's planned for future years. Exhibits include full size actual buses, trams
and rail vehicles. There are also interactive exhibits. However it's not
exclusively about London as it also examines the transports systems of Delhi,
New York, Paris, Shanghai and Tokyo. The various galleries include original
works of art along displays that look at London transport during the wars and a
large focus on the London tube system.
There is also a regular series of events to ensure there's always something new
to experience.
