The Petrie Museum is one of the largest and most fascinating
collections of Egyptian and Sudanese archaeology anywhere in the world. Housed
here are in excess of 80,000 artefacts showing the development of Egyptian
culture, technology and daily life from prehistoric to Roman times. The displays
illustrate life in the Nile Valley from prehistory through Pharaonic to Roman
and Islamic times. The exhibits includes the world's earliest surviving garment,
a dress from around 2800BC and ones oldest linen from around 5000 BC.
