NATIONAL EXPRESS COACHESNational Express Ltd is the UK’s major coach service provider running a network of routes through Britain to over 1000 destinations. The destinations include large cities, small towns and popular destinations such as the major airports. They are actually the largest scheduled coach service provider in Europe. More than 16 million people use national Express each and every year. National Express Ltd are actually part of the larger National Express group whose companies include a number of train and bus services not just in the UK but worldwide. The companies’ roots go back to 1968 when it brought a number of independent operators under one brand, the National Bus Company (NBC). In 1974 the company was re-branded as National Express. Most services have an onboard WC and and many also have NX TV. NX is the short form way of writing of National Express. For handicap facilities look for the WH symbol next to the route you choosing for coaches that have facilities for 1 wheelchair. InformationHotel Hoppa Shuttle BusThe company also run some of the popular airport shuttle bus services which they call the Hoppa Bus. The Heathrow Hotel Hoppa being one and the Gatwick Hotel Hoppa another. The route details for the Gatwick Hoppa are: Ramada Plaza Gatwick > Crowne Plaza Gatwick Crawley > Travelodge Gatwick > Gatwick North Terminal > Gatwick Airport, South Terminal >>>Book the Gatwick Hotel Hoppa National Express - Heathrow to London National Express run most of the coach services from Heathrow Airport. From terminals 1,2 and 3 make your way over the Central Bus Station to locate the stand for your required national express service. All trips into London are from the central Bus station between terminals 1,2 and 3. From terminals 4 and 5 you can use the service of the Heathrow Express train which is free between terminals or the local bus routes which are free within the airport.. You can purchase coach/bus tickets directly at the bus and coach station information desks and the station is open 24/7. Coaches into central London run from around 5am till 21.30. All coaches have a toilet on board and some have a TV also. Most London bound National Express coaches use stand 15 at the Central Coach Station. The main coach and bus station for routes into London from other towns and Cities is at Victoria Station. This is also the the central point for making connections out of central London again. From Heathrow all the coaches make their way into London along the A4 and terminate at Victoria. Coaches stop at Earls Court for passengers who have hand luggage only. For all other London connections you will need to transfer at Victoria coach station onto the appropriate bus. When you purchase your ticket at Heathrow it will be a through ticket to include all transfers. National Express make the following connections within London. Don't forget almost all will require you to transfer at Victoria Station onto the appropriate connecting service.
Expect your coach journey into Victoria to take
around 40-80 minutes. Other services: National Express also run the Dot2Dot shuttle bus from Gatwick and Heathrow into central London and the Heathrow Hoppa Bus which serves hotels around Heathrow Airport. ![]() |
