Rated 4.8 out of 5:
It was a Saturday so we were able to park right outside the hotel. The building and courtyards are very attractive and we found it to be a quiet location considering how central it is. The staff were very welcoming and were helpful and courteous without being obtrusive. We were very grateful to be upgraded to a very spacious and comfortable suite which had fresh fruit and bottled water provided. We had chosen the hotel mainly for the location and it was an easy ten minute walk to the theatre in Victoria. Overall we were really pleased and would certainly stay here again.
A couple of points which are not complaints and did not detract from our enjoyment of our stay here. The reception on the TV in the lounge was not as good as it could be. The extractor over the hob could not work effect because it vented into a cupboard where it was sealed off with gaffer tape.

Rated 5 out of 5:
We stayed at 51 last weekend, as a special trip to London to see the Ballet at the Royal Opera House. From the description on Late Rooms we were expecting something closer to Covent Garden, but in hindsight we are so glad that it was 51 we stayed at. I seriously doubt that you could find a hotel (it's suites really) with better service ANYWHERE in London. And I don't mean pathetic shoe grovelling either - the staff there were genuinely friendly and chatty, putting people like us who were unaccustomed to that level of service, completely at ease.

Rated 5 out of 5:
This hotel is truly a gem. I can't imagine what our trip would have been like if we had stayed anywhere else. From the moment we arrived, exhausted, bedraggled and dragging two young, discombobulated children, the staff made us feel welcomed, relaxed and immediately at home. Arecilia, the lovely hotel manager, met us outside and escorted us through the check-in process. Our apartment was ready -- and OH! What an apartment. Beautifully appointed, comfortable and chic. It was hard to resist immediately lying down and going to sleep.
But the very very best part of the hotel, and the single reason I would return again and again (almost forsaking travel to other parts of Europe ever again), is the exceptional service we received from their concierge staff -- Nelson and Alex. I simply cannot say enough about these gentlemen. Knowledgeable. Friendly. Extra mile. Smart. Uncanny ability to know what you want to do and where you want to go. Brilliant planning. They greeted us by name whenever we passed through the lobby. Called my husband on their cell phones when mine wasn't working and I couldn't locate him. Brought me water while I waited. Planned our walks through town. Got us tickets. Turned the hotel upside down looking for my daughter's missing beloved elephant. I could go on and on.
Because we had an apartment set-up with two bedrooms, a living room, and a kitchen we were easily able to eat some of our meals in-room. The food was excellent. Good value. Good service. It was perfect for our two young children (6 and 4) who were tired after long days out and about and unable/unwilling to sit for a restaurant meal.
Please, I implore you, stay at 51 Buckingham Gate. You will love it.

A guest awarded the apartments 5 out of 5 saying:
Another great stay in this terrific property. Staff friendly and efficient as ever. Was upgraded to a deluxe one bedroom suite after a booking mix-up. The suite had an eat in kitchen with a view of Buckingham Palace, living room, huge bathroom and smallish but charming and luxurious bedroom. Option of turning on the air-conditioning or opening the windows to enjoy some London summer very welcome. I really love this apartment/hotel. It is a bit of five star comfort in the best location, close to the sights, Westminster and the tube. For a woman travelling alone on business it is also a safe home away from home.
Liked: comfort and luxury. Disliked: small cupboards
