| Rated 3 out of 5 : My husband and myself stayed at The Barn, for a wedding reception, in September, which was lovely, room fine, good breakfast, so we were happy with the facilities. Unfortuneately,I tripped over the little privit hedge around the grass verges at the back of the hotel leading into the gardens. The hedge is ony 6 inches high. There is an outside light but it did not come on. The result was I cut my lip, grazed my knee and bruised my foot. It really shook me up and I felt a bit battered for a few days. I did not receive any serious injuries, but did write a letter to the manager,as I did not want this to happen to anyone else. I must add among the wedding party that 3 other people tripped over this in the dark. To date have heard nothing back, I think this is appalling, all I wanted was a letter to say that this would be looked into- as a health and safety issue. Definitely would not go back on account ot the acccident issue. Rated 4.9 out of 5 : Liked: Staff extremely helpful Overall : I believe this to be my final trip to England, however should I be able to return again I would certainly Rated 4.5 out of 5 : Lovely stay - ideal for all amenities. Rooms are in various stages of being renovated and we were lucky and got a new room with patio door a short walk from the main hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Nice bar, great breakfast. would recommend and will certainly use again. the main hotel accommodation is very comfortable and special - very olde worlde in parts and very luxurious. They have lots of wedding here and i imagaine it would be a great place to have a wedding. A guest gave the hotel 3 out of 5 and said: I was horrified when this hotel was booked for me and I read the reviews, however the truth was really not bad. I was in Sherley's Barn and as I opened the door with trepidation, I was pleasantly surprised. The room was large and the bathroom was modern and clean. OK, there were a few niggles, had I had my husband (6'2") or son (6'5") with me they would never have fitted in the shower, but they could have used the jacuzzi bath. The water was lukewarm in the shower and the plug was stuck in the sink, but it was OK. I must say though, the restaurant food was amazing, and the staff in the restaurant exceptional. Breakfast was good, reception staff indifferent, however that might have been because they were phoned prior to my arrival to ensure that my room was good. I think the trick is when booking this hotel is to make sure they know you have seen the reviews and to phone up prior to arrival. |
