| A Bermondsey Square Hotel guest rated the accommodation 4 out of 5 and said: We planned a romantic getaway to London (my home town) and wanted to stay in a hotel which was luxurious but didn't break the bank. We searched for ages and discounted all the normal touristy places which were either hugely expensive or pretty ropey looking. We stumbled across the Bermondsey Square hotel and thought it looked lovely and it certainly didn't break the bank. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and the room was divine. Not too fussy, but comfortable enough. The bed was divine. I usually sleep badly in hotels but I slept peacefully every night we stayed. The bathroom has a big walk in shower and was clean. There was supposed to be room service but we couldn't find a menu for this, so not sure if our room just didn't have one or if it wasn't available. We didn't mind though. The location of the hotel is perfect. It's quiet and has lots to do...including a Sainsbury's local opposite where stocked up on milk for coffee and nibbles to put in the room fridge. There are some great pubs, bars and restauarants nearby. I particularly liked the Garrison on Bermondsey Street, though it was a little pricey for breakfast (?30!). We went for walks from Tower Bridge down to Waterloo and there are loads of great places to visit along the way. The only downside is the hotel bar, which we visited on our first night. The service was appaling and they had run out of the wine we wanted...the seats also weren't very comfortable. So, not ideal to kick back and relax in. Other than that, the hotel is great and I would return again. Rated 5 out of 5: This hotel was so much nicer than expected after only paying very little for the trip. The hotel was spotlessly clean and very modern with apple mac television screens in each room with a wide range of channels. The rooms were beautifully decorated and modern with a great office area incase you are going for business. The rooms were cleaned daily and extremely clean. The food was lovely but a little overpriced if you did not get it in with your package. The only bad point is the location the nearest tube - london bridge being around 1.5 mile away but if you dont mind the walk it is definitely worth it. Rated 5 out of 5: Having to haul our cases on and off the train then run the gauntlet off the rush hour tube we were a bit stressed but all that vanished as we strolled the 10 mins from London Bridge station to the hotel, we passed some lovely old pubs nice bars and even a trendy shoe shop. On arrival the hotel staff were very welcoming and the club room we booked was excellent with a shower to die for and suberb view onto the square. We chose to eat in the resturant facing the hotel and enjoyed a first class meal and first class belly dancer before strolling back over the square for a night cap at the hotel. The breakfasts were superb and all in all I would not hesitate to stay again, in fact we are going again for a spot of christmas shopping and will be using the Bermondsey Square again. Rated 4 out of 5: Really useful to know that this hotel is here. I got a very good room rate indeed and will defeinitely stay here in future if that rate or something similar is available again - nothign special but excellent value for money. |
