| Rated 4.6 out of 5: Liked: Excellent location, staff effective and friendly, rooms decor very nice, perfect cleanliness Disliked: At 2nd floor some rooms are located not at the same level of elevator: few steps but not so easy to be climbed with heavy luggage or for people using sticks or wheelchair. Overall: Wonderful hotel to stay at :walking distance from Oxford Street (2 minutes on foot),pleasant very clean rooms Rated 4 out of 5: We stayed at the Mostyn hotel just off Marble Arch. It was a comfortable, clean hotel with excellent breakfasts served and helpful, friendly staff. The view wasn't great, we looked out onto the road and the side of Thistle hotel, Marble Arch. A room on a higher floor would have been better. Eating out was not expensive but if you visit Harrod's, take plenty of money. Overall, the trip was worth every penny. Rated 4.5 out of 5: Very nice, clean and modern room (although it was a bit of a squeeze being a single.) The staff were very friendly- the concierge in particular was lovely and would do anything to help, including giving me an umbrella and insisting on carrying my very small luggage. The location was fantastic. Stepping distance from Oxford Street but without the noise. On the negative side, I didn't receive my wake up call which could have been detrimental had I not had my own alarm. The TV reception cut off regularly. I was also disappointed to have to pay an extra ?4 to have my breakfast in my room as it had already cost an additional ?12. I have stayed in several hotels in central London that did not have this stipulation. Overall, I would say that this is an ideal short business stop off. Having said that, it was a brief visit and I did not fully explore all of the facilities on offer. Rated 4 out of 5: they just have had renew the hotel rooms and the furniture (make sure u don't stay in the first floor cuz it looks like they haven't renew it... i'm not sure though) and they r working on the exterior of the hotel... the rooms are very nice a small but i thing most of the hotels in London are.. location is the best .. close from the shopping area i found couple of times the construction workers in front of my window early in the morning but it wasn't a big deal for me considering the renovation of all the hotel A Best Western Mostyn guest rated the stay 4 out of 5: Stayed here for one night for my wife's birthday (even though we live in London, I thought it would be fun to stay in a hotel not far from home). As I've lived in London for 12 years I knew the location was good -- just off Oxford Street for shopping, a short walk to dozens of good restaurants, and 2 minutes from Marble Arch tube. Check-in was friendly and efficient. The room (an executive room -- 118) was spotlessly clean, with a very comfortable bed, great bathroom and a good view over the street. Breakfast was tasty and efficiently served. A couple of things were missing from the room - an alarm clock and minibar would have been nice - but for a 3* hotel I was extremely impressed by the facilities. The room was on the small side and a bit noisy at night -- but this is central London so that should be expected. Only slight gripe is the queue for checkout in the morning - an express check out for prepaid guests would be good - but once I got to the front of the queue the service was friendly and efficient. I think it would be hard to beat this hotel in the West End without paying significantly more. Rated 4 out of 5: Purpose of trip was to have a leisurely break so hotel location was excellent for Oxford Street shopping as well as for buses and underground connections to explore other parts of London. Quite a hike but a walkable distance if required from Piccadilly and Leicester Square. Hotel foyer, bar and restaurant was very smart but the bedrooms were not quite in the same league and fairly small, but not in the room much anyway. Lovely, very helpful staff. Spent a really interesting few hours at the Imperial War Musuem, but it was the English schools half term break which was bad timing as many places were extremely hectic with up to 90 minutes queue for the Natural History Musuem so didn't wait for that. Enjoyed Covent Garden for a wander around and had dinner in Chinatown on two nights. Rated 3 out of 5: Was just a one night stay for business and arrived late to the hotel. Howver, desk staff were not friendly or welcoming but this seems to be a trait with most London hotels. Room was small but adequate and quiet enough except for the aircon. Handy location and for the price I couldn't complain. |
