| Rated 3.5 out of 5: Liked: Easy access to the adjacent Hyde Park, the staff were very helpful and friendly. Disliked: The basement rooms felt extremely enclosed Rated 3.5 out of 5: Stayed in a club room. interestingly the was a microwave but no fridge. bathroom was modern and really clean. Bed was big but room was a bit small. Other than that the stay was lovely and the location was great to get around from Rated 4 out of 5: Front desk staff are helpful - they upgraded my room when I complained about the size. The club rooms are the ones to go for. Breakfast is not worth the money. They do both types of egg - boiled or scrambled. Sometimes boiled aren't available. For ?14 I expect some choice and variation day-to-day. It's self-serve but you'll soon get bored with what's on offer. Save your ??? and try some of the many local cafes. |

Rating out of 10: 1 Date stayed: September 2005 review: Totally unsatisfactory hotel! After being moved from the Hyde Park Paddington Hotel, our original booking, my three sisters and I were put in two twin bed rooms. One of them had obviously been used as a luggage store room as we had to wait while a large amount of luggage was moved out. The rooms were exceptionally small and the ensuite baths were so tiny you sould hardly turn around in them. The showers were abysmal and the windows wouldn't open. With no air conditioning, the rooms were stuffy and hot. The only saving grace was that the beds were reasonably comfortable. On arrival home and checking this website, I have found that the Hyde Park Paddington, which we were originally booked into, was a 4 star hotel. The Best Western we ended up in was a 3 star. By North American standards I would suggest that it would be a 1 or 2 star rated motel at best. We paid $170.78 Canadian or GBP79.00 per room per night, the cost of the original Hyde Park Paddington rooms we were booked into and probably over the cost of the rooms we actually ended up with at the Best Western. My suggestion - don't believe the pictures on the web site. They bear very little resemblance to the actual hotel. I would never stay at this hotel again and will be so advising my Travel Agent. Rating out of 10: 10 Date stayed: July 2002 review: Best night's sleep I have EVER had - it may have had to do with my jetlag, but the bed was so comfortable I slept for 14 hours straight. I'm staying there again this year! |
