Rated 4 out of 5: Stayed just the one night here (Sat 5th Feb) and have to say of the 3 travelodges I've stayed in this one was definitely the best. Staff were very helpful and friendly especially the young girl working on bar. Room was clean and comfortable and at ?32 for a family room, it was exceptional value. location was good for the airport, approx 5 minutes away. Down side perhaps food was a bit of a let down but would definitely recommend staying here A Travelodge Stansted Bishops Stortford rated 4 out of 5: I found this hotel listed on the Travelodge website as one of their new ones. We were using it as a stopover on the way to Chelmesford and managed to get it at a very good pre-booked price. It was very hard to find once we were in the vicinity as it was dark, it's at the end of a long driveway and the Travelodge signs were not lit at the entrance (it would be a lot easier in daylight!). I have to admit that it isn't a typical Travelodge and not what I expected. The setting is really lovely with well kept gardens and a well lit car park with ample parking. The hotel is in the process of being refurbished and was a little disjointed (due to be completed in July) but the staff were extremely helpful, the restaurant light and comfortable and the breakfast more than ample. The rooms were clean with comfortable beds but (I think) not yet completed as some of the furniture in the rooms, dining room and reception is a little old and tired. It is adjacent to the M11 and only 10 minutes from Stansted Airport causing a little noise from planes taking off and landing but nothing that was a problem. All in all a very pleasant experience and I would certainly stay there again. Rated 4 out of 5: This hotel was unexpectedly good. Having stayed at Best Western's in the past, I have to admit we weren't expecting much but the Stansted Manor was clean, the room was very large and the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly (they organised for us to share a taxi with other guests, loaned us an umbrella etc). Having said this, I would make the point that it isn't really a destination in itself as there didn't appear to be anything at all within the vicinity of the hotel; I therefore can't imagine anyone choosing to stay for more than one night but it's an ideal base for when you need to be closer to somewhere else (airport, wedding, business meeting etc).

NAME AND BRAND CHANGE FROM BEST WESTERN STANSTED MANOR TO TRAVELODGE STANSTED BISHOPS STORTFORD MARCH 2010
Rating out of 10: 3 Date stayed: January 2010 review: The Hotel was a Best Western and at that time was very nice. It is now a Travellodge and the room was cold (heating failed on first night), room has a bed and a MFI desk and plastic chair, no other furniture, no rack for the case, nothing else in a big room. I stayed in travelodges and they aren't usually as spartan as this Hotel. Looks like it is on hard times. Rating out of 10: 3 Date stayed: July 2007 review: Nice bathroom, but old room which smells very smokey. No access to anything unless you hire a cab. Not recommended
