| Rated 3 out of 5: We chose this hotel as it was near Whipsnade Zoo (about 5 miles away). The front reception area looks quite impressive. It's just a shame the room did not live up to the same standard. We stayed in room 318 on the top floor (I always ask for a top- floor room so you're less likely to be awoken by early starters making a noise above you, especially as the hotel was near an airport). The room was quite nice and clean but the state of the room was below par with marks on the walls and badly repaired sealant around the bath. The bed was also quite soft which was not great for my back as I need a firm bed. We did not eat at the hotel as the prices were not in our budget but the restaurant area looked nice. It was not far for us to find cheaper food and we bought milk at the garage next door for teas and cereal. The one major problem was it did state ?Wi-fi in all rooms? but for some reason it was only working in the reception area. The room was ok and as they are having major restorations soon, it could be a great hotel when it is done. Rated 4.5 out of 5: We recently attended a family wedding in Luton and approx. 30 of us stayed in the Chiltern Hotel. We had a lovely time, the hotel was excellent and we enjoyed the wedding immensely. Rated 4 out of 5: Liked: I like the park and fly facility, 2nd time used at this hotel especially as car stays put. Disliked: Bar food a bit pricey, had sandwiches, ok expect to be bit dearer, but there wasn't much filling in them. Overall: Good experience and easy to get car at end of stay. Staff all pleasant. A past guest of the hotel rated it 4 out of 5 and commented: It's been nearly 10 years since I stayed at the Chiltern Hotel in Luton, and what a change..... for the better.(and under new management) The staff were fantastic, every one of them professional and pleasant, the food was outstanding (try the Thai fish cakes) ? exciting new cuisine with an international flavour making a change on the usual bland UK hotel dishes. The breakfast was well worth the money and the new décor in the restaurant was very smart with the service good, both for dinner and breakfast. Good parking, easy access, and reasonably priced. The rooms have been modernised to some extent, only down-point was that the rooms didn't have all SKY channels, something I was told was going to be sorted out. Liked: the food, Disliked: nothing |
