| Rated 4 out of 5: We had room 310 and it was large, newly refurbished. The AC worked well, it had a nice sized fridge. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The people in the restaurant were very nice and the service was excellent. The hotel has on site parking that wasn't cheap but wasn't the most expensive I had seen. There is a cafe right next door for breakfast and/or lunch. Around the corner is the tube and a small grocery store where you can get water, yogurt, milk, etc. for the fridge in the room. The Tower of London is about a 20 minute walk. I have only minor complaints. The double bed in room 310 was horrible for me and I had to move to my son's single bed which was more comfortable. My husband said the bed was fine though. Also, our room looked directly in to a place where the homeless slept in a few abandoned buildings. The area is not a bad area but this certainly wasn't the most pleasant view from a hotel window. Rated 4 out of 5: I was pleasantly surprised by the size and cleanliness of the room given the money I paid. The room was also really well heated, which I appreciated having travelled down from Halifax, where it was -5 degrees, in an aggressively air conditioned train. the only downside was that it was quite noisy at about 1-2am with people returning late, but as it caters to tourists I guess you have to expect that. If I hadn't been working the next day I probably wouldn't have minded at all. Rated 3 out of 5: Stayed for four nights during an exhibition. Friendly staff. Easy to find and great location if you like curries. The room was clean but very warm. Had to turn the heating down each day when I returned. Only complaint - the shower rail was very rusty and the bath/shower area looked 'tired'. Could have done with a refurb. |

Rating out of 10: 10 Date stayed: May 2008 review: I have been to London 5 times in this last year, and I have been disappointed with all the hotels that I have stayed in, but at last I have found a hotel that is very close to central london, reasonably priced, and a great room. I booked a single room, usually in London that qualifies you for a shoebox, my room had a double and single bed, large bathroom, fridge, trouser press and fan. It is by far the cleanest hotel I have stayed in. The staff were absoluly lovely, very helpful and polite. (with the exception of the sunday morning cleaning supervisor, who just barges into your room!) I loved my room and the hotel, I will definitly stay here again, and I will recomend this hotel to all my friends. The hotel is right beside petticoat lane market, and 3 mins from aldgate tube. Its not the most affluent area of london, but its so close to central london that its worth the cmpromise. Another guest on this review site complained about the noise levels, and faulty TV, my TV worked just fine, and I was surprised at how quiet it was, its off a main street, so there was no loud traffic noises throughout the night, and most London hotels are noisey, this is the quietest hotel I have stayed in. For price, location and cleanliness, I definitly reccomend this hotel. Rating out of 10: 2 Date stayed: March 2008 review: If you value your sleep don't stay at this hotel as the walls are paper thin! You can literally hear the conversion next door, that went on till four in the morning! The television was like something from the sixties era!couldn't get a clear picture no cable in our room, remote didn't work as the telly was that old?The cleaning supervisor walked into our room without knocking so be warned!Asian music was blasting from speakers across the street from morning till night!A most unpleasant stay for the price we payed! Rating out of 10: 2 Date stayed: March 2008 review: This is one of the worst hotels I have stayed in for some time. It is correct when it states that it is a good location for being close to the tube station. The decor is some what tired and we did not get a good nights sleep due to the nightclub located under the hotel area. I would not recommend this hotel on the basis that it is not value for money and does not present the right image of our Capital City. Rating out of 10: 8 Date stayed: November 2004 review: we stayed at the city hotel recently and was impressed very large warm comfortable room complete with kitchen.modern bar and restaurant downstairs.reasonably priced well placed for all the east end attractions.will stay again. Rating out of 10: 10 Date stayed: October 2004 review: A group of 3 of us stayed at this hotel while on a theatre break in London. Before we went we were very sceptical, to the extent of having nightmares. We were going to stay in the middle of London for ?25 per person per night - what was it going to be like? Well, our scepticism was unfounded. It was excellent! Large rooms - which is most unusual for London - you usually end up in a shoebox! The service and food were perfect and better that a lot of other hotels that I have stayed in at much higher prices. The single best thing about the hotel was its proximity to the tube station - Literally around the corner. What makes this hotel such great value is that it's not located in the traditional tourist hotel area. It is located in the business district. This means that they are busy Mon-Fri but they have plenty of rooms to offer at cheap rates over the weekend. Two words of warning however - Shop around. Several sites offer accommodation at this hotel (search on Google) but the prices vary enormously. I have the same room -on the same night- offered at rates that vary from ?50 to as much as ?150! |
