| Rated 4.5 out of 5 : Good size & adequate twin room for short stay. Can't comment on breakfast as didn't have time to have it. Would definitely stay again at ?63/night. On morning of check-out (a good 11am) the maid knocked & tried to enter the room at 9am! Too early for maid service on any day (sometimes a sleep-in is required) and not required on a check-out day. I didn't see a "do not disturb" sign to put outside, but equally did not expect a 9am "wake-up call". Rated 4 out of 5 : After reading some of the reviews on this hotel I had no idea what to expect so my expectations were very low. I was pleasantly surprised. Location of the hotel was perfect and the hotel itself was fine. Room was spotless, tv, tea & coffee maker, safe - you don't really need much more when just sight seeing and using the room for sleep. Breakfast was fine and the hotel staff were very pleasant. Got 2 great nights sleep - no noise disturbance despite the fact that the majority of residents were under 21!! The hotel was a bit shabby and really needs to be done up but for the price it was ideal. Would definitely stay there again Rated 3 out of 5 : I stayed at the City Continental with a friend for one night. We just needed somewhere clean, cheap, and well located, and it ticked all those boxes for me. The twin room was clean and comfortable, cosy rather than spacious. Ample room to move around in, however. The bathroom was spotless. There was a TV, tea and coffee tray and a few hangers in an open-style wardrobe. Beds were firm and comfortable. It was a rear ground floor room with a patio door which was locked, and no windows, and on arriving the room was far too hot, but we couldn't open anything for ventilation; however once we had turned off the radiator and worked out the aircon, the temperature was reasonable, though I would have preferred fresh air. The service on reception was polite and efficient. The carpets in the public areas are a little dirty/ tired looking but to be honest that didn't bother me and I probably wouldn't even have noticed if I hadn't read the previous reviews! We paid an advance, non-refundable rate for the room which was excellent value for money and included a free 24 hour wifi voucher. The wifi worked very well. Breakfast was also included in the price, but as I had to leave extremely early the next day, I wasn't able to take advantage of it. All in all, a good budget hotel for a short stay, especially if you can get a good deal on the rate. The location is excellent, being in a quiet street literally just round the corner from Earl's Court tube station, so you can be in the very centre of London in less than 20 minutes. |
