| Rated 5 out of of 5 : For us, this proved an authentic five star experience. We had 3 nights in London without kids to celebrate a family birthday, so we were happy to splurge. The facilities were fine. Our room was spacious with genuine furniture (not the stereotypical smart hotel furniture) and all the functionality you?d expect. Rather than being stuck in the usual sealed, air-conditioned environment, we enjoyed being able to open the window and let fresh air in. We slept well. We really enjoyed the clubby feel of the common areas. The main staircase is wonderful and much of the artwork quite interesting. Both bars were buzzing and had a great atmosphere. The Aman Spa worked its magic on our jetlagged bodies. However, it was the service that made the difference. Whether it was clothes that needed pressing NOW, kippers for breakfast even though they weren?t on the menu or helping us organise the purchase of a gift at short notice, the answer was always yes. As other reviews have mentioned, this kind of service doesn't come cheap, but that doesn't seem to matter when it's done well. Rated 4 out of 5 : My husband and I just returned from staying at the Connaught for 4 nights. The hotel refurbishment is quite nice. We stayed in a suite, a large living room, but the bedroom was quite small and the bath adequate. The room service food is very good, we had it frequently. The staff is quite nice and helpful. Espelette, the new casual restaurant, is fine, although the Dover Sole is now deboned in the kitchen. Overall we liked it, but for the small bedroom. We will probably look for a larger bedroom for our next time in London. |
