| Rated 3.5 out of 5: hotel is in a fantastic location, just across the street from Kings Cross/ St Pancras station, easy to find many shops and restaurants near by. reception staff were friendly and welcoming, as was the little scotty dog that wanders around the hotel!! room was clean enough. The corridor leading to our room and the shared bathroom smelt horrible! The room itself was ok however. The shower was very unappealing, shower had no basin and shared the floor with the toilet, yuck! We didn't want to use it at all. Breakfast was not great, tea was watery and toast was made with stale bread or reheated. Good choice of cereal if you into that kind of thing. Cant complain too much as it was included in the price (which was very cheap) Rated 4 out of 5: I had read about the tight rooms and "unfriendly" staff, so I went into this hotel with certain expectations. Here is the rundown of this hotel: 1. It is literally a 30 second walk to the entrance to the Kings Cross/St. Pancras Tube station. For the price, this location is unbeatable. 2. We had a triple room. The space was tight but not cramped. There is ample space under each bed for suitcases and other items. 3. The bathroom was very clean, but very tight. If you are a larger person (both weight and height), you should reconsider this hotel. I am average height and very slim and the bathroom was a little tight even for me. 4. There seemed to be a constant stream of police cars or ambulances 2 of our 3 nights there. This probably depends on the location of your room in the building. 5. It's true that there is no lift. You should be prepared for this. Also the staircase was a little tight when you had bags. 6. The staff was not OVERLY friendly but I did not find them to be cold either. They answered all of our questions and even loaned us a power adapter. 7. The wifi is available in the small bar area near the lobby but it is SLOW. However, St. Pancras International has free wifi throughout the building. It's a 3 minute walk. Overall, this is a no-frills hotel with very good location and prices. If you are just looking for a place to sleep in London near a Tube station and are able to carry your bags up stairs (potentially), then this place is great for you. If you are looking for amenities and an abundance of comfort, I hope you are willing to pay significantly more for another hotel. |

Rating out of 10: 7 Date stayed: March 2005 review: We had the attic room as well last year so opted for a twin room this year to avoid it. Twin room was better though I'd quite like a sink in the bathroom for once as opposed to the bedroom, picky me. The knob was off the wardrobe but this was a minor problem. Major problem was getting a word out of the staff, we were totally ignored upon our departure. Kudos to the nice girl with the dog who works in reception (the girl not the dog)as she was the only one to ever bid us goodnight, the breakfast room staff were also pleasant. The rating I give also includes the fact that the hotel is so handy for Kings Cross station and the underground, or a walk into town if you feel like it. Rating out of 10: 2 Date stayed: July 2004 review: the hotel did not live up to the description on the internet or photo's shown we were put in an ATTIC room classed as double, the only thing double was the bed, you could not pass each other in the room and had to squeeze all our clothes into what could only be classed as a very single wardrobe |
