Rated 3.5 out of 5:
We used the hotel because of its location next to the excel centre for the triathalon.
The rooms are small and feel claustrophobic.

Rated 4 out of 5:
We drove down to London from Manchester to see the kings of leon only to find out later the gig had been cancelled. We decided to stay the night at our hotel anyway, rather than drive all the way home again. The hotel was nice and cosy and the staff were friendly and helpful. It was ideal for the train station, it's just across the road. We jumped on the tube and went to london bridge and oxford street, hit a few pubs as well and finished off back at the hotel. We enjoyed our stay even though we were gutted the gig was cancelled. Would stay again!

Rated 4.5 out of 5:
hotel excellent across road from DLR. Rooms quiet, clean, tidy, bathroom tiny, but expected. travelling with my daughter, safe hotel. cafe restaurant food average. drinks reasonable price for London. Great location for O2

Rated 4 out of 5:
Stayed at this hotel for new years eve, its about half an hour from central London but is ideal as the DLR station is literally across the road from the hotel. I was a little worried about what the rooms would be like as all the other hotels in the same price bracket were awful but couldn't have been more pleased. The only problem I had was the walls are quite thin, which may have been due to the adjoining door but due to it being new year I had expected the extra noise. Would definitely stay again, the rooms are clean and the staff are very friendly.

review: No standard rooms left, had to book a superior at this 3 star hotel???
Requested early check in. Rooms were not ready. To Excell for the day.
Checked in at 8pm. Assigned room 135.
Said hello to the lady living in my room. Scared the wits out of her.
Reception then kindly gave me a room all to myself. ( Room 139) which on entry I promptly blockaded with a chair in case they decided to sublet during the night.
Superior room ??(of higher grade or quality: superior merchandise. )
Room was shoddy, dingy, dark with a glorified portaloo parading itself as an ensuite bathroom which reeked of sewage. I have seen better facilities at Biker rallies.
Breakfast was one of those affairs that is cooked at 7am and kept in heated trollies (never replenished)  till the last guest finishes or there is none left
as my colleague found out.
I stayed in this hotel on the 18th Apr and have emailed and phoned to lodge
my complaints but obviously customer service is of the same 3 star rating as
this hotel.

review: I stayed in a 'superior' room which was anything but. The hotel was ugly and in very poor condition. We booked a double but were given a single room, and on complaining were told to push the beds together ourselves, even worse the toilet was uncleaned and the very tiny bathroom smelt terrible. Worst of all were the staff though who were the least helpful human beings i have ever met. Staying here was not a break but a chore.

review: We found the hotel to be somewhere in between the two reviews. We stayed in a budget room and I have to admit, you get what you paid for. We stayed through a discount reseller and got a very good rate for just over two weeks. However, the comp breakfast was not included and was also not worth the money they charged. (?3.99 for Continental, ?7.99 for English per person)
The other restaurants are not open at that time so there is no other local choice. The main restaurant/cafe was also not open at 5:30 pm when we wanted to eat.
The rooms are very small containing microscopic furniture, a cheap matress with a plastic matress pad which causes you to sweat so we removed it each night. There is a single cover which is a duvet and cover. This means you cannot strip that off or there is nothing but a sheet under you.
The shower was large in our room with a shower and drying space. There were only the two bath towels provided. We were told that the budget rooms did not get more than that.
The staff try their best but there are some language problems as most of the staff are eastern european.
The hotel is clean and well kept but it is noisy.
All sounds from the halls seem magnified and there were several school groups from Spain, France and Germany there. (The Germans were the noisiest)
We booked a non smoking room and were given a smoking room. The smoke from the halls wafted under the door so we stopped it up with the matress pad.
If you are on the front of the hotel you get the noise from the trains across the street and the buses in front. If you are in the back you overlook the parking lot/courtyard which carries a lot of noise up from the pub and various functions including drunks yelling. You also get the noise from local merchants closing their shutters at night. Every Wednesday morning between 6:30 and 7:00 there is a beer delivery which is very disruptive. The truck is loud, the driver and helper are loud, the kegs being thrown around are loud.
The main advantage of the hotel is that it is located right across tyhe stret from the Custom House DLR station with good service and access into the city.
I feel I got what I paid for but fortunately I didn't pay the full rate and would prefer to pay a little more to get more. I would not recommend this hotel for an extended stay although it is okay for 2 or 3 days.

review: The rooms are noisy, you can hear everything from the corridors and trains passing outside. En-suite is a moulded plastic compatment with a tiny shower cubile which cause you to soak the enitre en-suite unless you are stick thin, you can close the door but then you are unable to move in the cubicle. No bath! Thread bare towels and thin quilts. Thin curtains which keep out no light as there are halogen lights outside every window. Food in canteen is rubbery at best, its like eating in a cheap motory cafe.
For any one who has worked offshore. Its much like that, noisy cramped and bright. I could not reccomend this hotel to anyone.

review: After reading previous reviews we did not know what to expect. Check-in was very quick. So we were pleased to find that the room and bathroom were spotless with crips white linen on the bed and fluffy white towels. The hospitality tray was also well stocked. Continental breakfast was adequate for the price even though full English was availabe for a small supplement and this looked very appetising.
We ate at the Chinese Restaurant on Saturday evening. The food and the service were excellent.
This was a 'cheap' break but this was not reflected in the quality and standard of the hote.
