| Rated 4.5 out of 5: Lovely large room. Relaxed atmosphere. Pool a bit small and taken over by local kids swimming lessons when we wanted to go in - late afternoon. Evening food good. Breakfast OK - but same as you'd get in any B&B, so would hope for improvement there. Grounds worth a short walk - watch out for the go-carts though. Overall really good value on the two night deal. Rated 4.4 out of 5: At very first look it was looking like a haunted manor house as I arrived about 8:00 pm and it was very dark, Apart from that staff was really nice and helpful. Room was done by someone really professional and I would rate it five star. Shower curtains were dirty, management needs to look into it. Rated 4 out of 5: The grounds are pleasant, a little overgrown, but still pleasing on the eye. The rooms are pleasant, good size and clean - modern bathrooms. Fantastic food at their grill restaurant. One of my best food experiences. Only fault of sorts .... This hotel has 4 function rooms so unless you are there as part of a function, don't expect to get much sleep before 2am on a Saturday night. Rated 5 out of 5: We were two couples on the two-night New Year's Eve package dining in Ibbetsons Restaurant on the 31st.. We loved Down Hall -a beautiful Italianate mansion . The staff were efficient and friendly -nothing was too much trouble . Food in the Grill Room and in Ibbetsons was excellent . The Classic rooms were clean and elegant ,comfortable beds and pillows and duvets of excellent quality . Altogether a special stay . One small negative ! Some complimentary bottled water in the classic rooms would be appreciated as the tap water is highly chlorinated . We had to go down to the bar and had to pay ?9 for two medium bottles - a bit of an inconvenience after a long journey. Rated 3 out of 5: Picturesque location, splendid building, nice beds Too expensive, slow service, overseas staff hard to comprehend, average food for our big group, items in the room not working or damaged- thermostat, towel rail, ironing board. Got to be better value 4* hotels out there Rated 4 out of 5: Stayed at the hotel with a group of friends for the Blues Brothers tribute night. The hotel and room was spotlessly clean and the staff really helpful and friendly. Check in and check out was fast and efficient. The food was good. I would have given five stars but for the fact the breakfast was ice cold, pity otherwise our stay could not have been much better. I will definitely return. Rated 4 out of 5: Friendly Staff, nice atmosphere Room was serviced but some Bathroom items were not replenished (No Toilet Rolls) Overall: A very nice experience - we will return Rated 4.5 out of 5: My sister needed a break and the hotel location, grounds and price were perfect for a couple of nights. Room was lovely with beautiful view and coffee/tea making facilities were perfect. <br />The first evening we had a steak sandwich from the bar menu which was cold with little meat. The breakfast the following morning was plentiful but again cold scrambled eggs and mushrooms so we decided to eat out on her birthday night. The Jacuzzi in the pool didn't work. The pool was warm but changing room facilities certainly need updating. One shower is really not sufficient and no lockers were provided for clothes. The second day the pool was in use for a swimming class for children for 3 hours in the afternoon so abandoned our attempt to use it, we mentioned it to reception staff at hotel who seemed surprised but told us we could use it later. Overall, very pleasant staff and room but don't go there if you want to relax in spa facilities or want a good pool and Jacuzzi. Hair dryer in room stopped working after one use which we reported to reception staff. Great venue for weddings with beautiful rooms./ Rated 4 out of 5: The hotel is lovely and the grounds are amazing. The pool is small but we enjoyed our time there. The staff were unhelpful and at times rude, 6 of us wanted to dine in the grill but they only had a table of 2 and 4 and refused to push them together to make a table for 6 - we therefore went down the road to the local pub and enjoyed a good selection of meals there. |
