Rated 4.5 out of 5:
On arrival, the unsmiling receptionist was efficient but looked sad, as did the young lady who delivered breakfast to my room. My room was sad too, and didn't deliver the promise of the photos on the website. It was overwhelmed by an enormous TV and an air conditioning unit, expected, I suppose, by many guests. The dusty Venetian window blinds needed a good clean. Breakfast was delicious, the tea good and hot. The bed was very comfortable, with good quality linen, and I slept well, having requested and been given a quiet room. I liked the atmosphere of the place and the friendly staff, and the little vignettes of alcoves, display cabinets and cosy sitting rooms. I would love to spend a winter weekend hibernating in this hotel!

Rated 4 out of 5:
It is a business hotel with very friendly staff; nice beds. Breakfast is not included but plenty of good places to eat are close by, as is Madame Tussauds and Baker Street tube station. The room is made up at your convenience - you just hang the appropriate notice on the door handle outside. Definitely worth coming back to.

The business mans club atmosphere was exactly as we expected. The location was perfect as we were attending a function at the Wallace Collection during the evening of check in. Decoration was functional and pleasing to the eye and the serving staff in all capacities were pleasant and helpful. We only ate Breakfast but it was well prepared and presented and did not have one of those abdominal buffets that we are told is for the benefit of the customer, so well done for that.
The room was very small for two and the bathroom was tired, we could not get the television to work in spite of complaining (not a big issue) The breakfast Maitre D was not the most accommodating individual ( a Dutchman I believe. His idea of service was to look at you on entering the restaurant and very reluctant to come forward and show one to a table. Thereafter as we were seated opposite the kitchen entrance we were party to numerous verbal attacks on the staff as to there performance and how they should all be replaced!!!! in my opinion the staff new there roles well and executed them professionally. To lambast staff in front of guests lack professionalism and somewhat reminiscent of Faulty Towers

I visited the hotel briefly during Christmas week and found it to be a thoroughly pleasant, charming City Hotel. The interior has an elegant almost Regal feel with dark wooden wall panelling and comfortable furnishings. The room was pleasant, my only reservation was a small bathroom but hey, London Property is the most expensive in the world....if you want a large bathroom 300yards from Oxford Street, I guess you have to spend several hundred pounds on a room! Overall, thoroughly pleasant hotel and highly recommended.

Typical English hotel. Small, but clean room. Shower was pretty average.
Service was let down but no-show on the taxi we booked and inability to know how to get a cab in London........

I only spent 1 night at the hotel, but it was quaint! I liked the fact it was individual, and not like being in a chain! Rooms at front a little noisy! Breakfast great range on menu. Quality good. Lovely to be in a dining room where mobiles banned!

A Durrants Hotel guest rated their stay 5 out of 5 saying:
I am a repeat guest of this hotel and can't imagine staying anywhere else. For a mid-price hotel, based on its location, the quality of the porters (who are immensely helpful), the historic nature of the hotel, the cleanliness of the rooms, the wonderful bar and hushed elegance of the restaurant, well, I'm not certain what else one could expect. One person's "dated" is another's "traditional and reliable." Mind there is no "action" here by the pool or nightclub and you won't see throngs of tourists unloading from buses. No coupons for free breakfasts, either. Rather, it is the most English of hotels, independently owned, and priced well below its stratospheric equivalents (Connaught, et al). Ask if you might be the type of person who can appreciate eating a fortifying English breakfast off Durrants silver, starched linen, and china with the hotel crest. It is located within walking distance of two Tube Stations in the lovely and enriching Marylebone area, near shopping on Thayer Street. I find the price to be more than reasonable and manage quite easily whenever I'm there. In the event of an emergency, I might just move in permanently to sip champagne till the end comes. Liked: It's quiet elegance and distance from the fray. Disliked: Some rooms have no A/C; those in need of A/C should arrange in advance. Rms. can be stuffy.
