| A guest to the Glenlyn Hotel rated it 5 out of 5 and said: I have stayed at the Glenlyn Guest House on two occasions as a base for trips to London. The hotel is extremely easy to get to (just 10 minutes' drive from the M1 or M25) and a five minute walk to Woodside Park tube station means that you can be in central London within 20 minutes. There is a car park right outside and the staff are happy to let you keep your car there for the day once you have checked out, which means you can fit in another day's sightseeing or shopping without having to pay for parking! The hotel is situated on a quiet street but there are cashpoints, shops and a wide range of restaurants just a two minute walk away. The only downside to the location is the walk back from the tube station to the hotel which is on a slight incline all the way, which would be perhaps a little difficult for anyone with lots of luggage. The building itself is a series of houses knocked together so the hotel retains a homely bed and breakfast feel. The rooms are clean and comfortable and very well fitted out, and the buffet breakfast offers a good variety of cooked food as well as cereals, fruit, pastries etc. The staff are always pleasant and very helpful. Overall, for an extremely reasonable price (you probably won't find cheaper in London) and the excellent location, this hotel is a great base for any trips to London. I will certainly be booking again and would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone. A client of the hotel rated the experience as 5 out of 5 and said: We spent 5 nights with a group of 4 guys in August 2009 at the Glenlyn. The hotel & the staff were both worth 5 stars. We had two double rooms, which were a bit different from each other, but both of them were tidy and equipped with a flatscreen TV. To find a CLEA hotel in London is sure difficult... Breakfast was delicious and was included in the room rate. The tube station (Woodside park I recall) is just a 5-6 minutes walk away. The ride to central London takes around 30-40 minutes. There is a Sainsbury's across the road to the hotel and several cozy restaurants literally 2 minutes from the hotel. Tested a few, all of them were good in terms of taste and price. All in all it's a lovely Hungarian owned small hotelin a quiet neighborhood - I strongly recommend to check it out! Next time we come and see the Blues play in London, we'll be back to the Glenlyn :) |
