Rated 4 out of 5:
I booked a room here because I needed a place to sleep for one night only and in central London. This was the best price I could find. I was expecting a dump after reading some of the reviews here. No, it wasn't a dump at all. The whole place was clean, as was my room. For a normal sized woman, there was plenty of space to move around in my room, nice big bathroom too. I've seen a lot smaller rooms around the world in a whole lot more expensive hotels. Breakfast was a nice basic breakfast, again, not a huge continental breakfast, but who expects that at these prices in London. It was a five minute walk from Victoria, I'd say that's close to Victoria, but someone obviously disagreed here already. The steep staircase is a fact, but hey, it's an old building, that's how they were made. The next time I need a room in London, I'll book one here, unless I'm looking for a luxurious five star hotel where I'll be pampered(which is nice every now and then, but most of the time, all I want is a nice, clean, quiet and friendly place for a good night's sleep).

If you are looking for a economical place to stay in London near the sights this hotel is ok. If you are looking for a luxury hotel, go somewhere else. Seems to me that the hotel has been repaired after those worst rewiews. The stairs are terrible, especially after a long walk in London. The staff was very helpful. Breakfast was modest, but enough. Rooms were clean, but stifling. We needed just a place to sleep and for that this hotel was good enough.

We stayed for 1 night at the Hanover Hotel and im quite pleased it wasnt for any longer. First thing i noticed was the room did not smell that nice when we walked in, cant really describe the smell. The sheets and towels were clean, the walls and carpet were clean however we did have ants in our room and bathroom, even bought a few stowaways home with us. Bathroom was very small but clean.
We only spent about 12 hours in the room as we slept which was a good thing as the room was very hot, on the plus side there was a fan in the room. 1 down side was we had our 7 year old son with us so thought that we would read while he was sleeping but there was no bedside lights only the main ceiling lights which meant it was to bright for our son.
We went down to breakfast which consisted of toast, cereals, 1 bowl of yoghurt, 1 bowl of fruit salad, rolls and croissants (which did not seem that fresh) and cheese. The breakfast was not that nice and the dining room was very small and cramped and hot.
I would not say that the staff were very friendly, they hardly spoke to us.
The hotel is in a nice location and is not far from Victoria coach station and the train station, however they do claim that you can walk to the science musuem and houses of parliment, you probably could but i would say its a long walk, we took the tube instead.
In summary, yes the hotel is budget, food is not great but will stop a rumble in the stomach, nice location, room clean apart from the smell and ants. I will not go back to this hotel.

review: This is the most dirty and crappy hotel I've never seen! They shown 4 different rooms and all of them were disgusting and dirty. I've not even spent a night and I had to pay 1 night since I was complaining about the rooms and left. Go somewhere else!!

review: This is the worst hotel that I have ever stayed in. We were shown to another smaller hotel around the corner (600 yds). It was really dirty and shabby and the room we were given was disgusting. We went back to the Hanover and by insistently complaining ended up with a room that was just unpleasant, small and tatty. Breakfast was served in a very hot, stuffy and crowded room - white toast and cheap jam and instant coffee. The staff were rude. Go somewhere else.
