| A Holiday Inn Elstree guest gave the stay 4 out of 5 : I booked to stay at this hotel with my 8yr old daughter after searching numerous websites looking for the best deal.I got a 2 for 1 deal which meant the total cost for two nights was only ?55.Having never stayed at a Hoilday Inn and after reading other reviews,I wondered if I had made the correct choice.Walking into the hotel,I was impressed with its appearance. The room was clean and of a good standard,I have paid a lot more for a lot worse in the past. The pool was great and ideal for children. We ate in the restaurant twice, for breakfast and dinner. The breakfast was ok with a good variety but the dinner was better.Contrary to some other reviews,I found every member of staff that we had contact with to be friendly, helpful and polite. The only bad point was due to the hotel's location, the traffic noise could be heard in our room but it didn't really cause us any problems.I would definately stay here again. Rated 3 out of 5 : Stayed at Holiday Inn Elstree for two nights on a Dinner Experience Package with dinner on one of the nights. Check in was ok but the receptionist was indifferent. We were upgraded to an Executive Room due to Priority Platinum status. The hotel is next to the A1, one junction south of M25. The hotel is very comfortable and nicely designed and quite different from the norm. The room itself was spacious but of unusual design being triangular in shape. The bed was comfortable with a selection of soft and firm pillows, TV with a handful of channels, mini bar, complimentary botlled water, chocolate bars, slippers, bathrobe, trouser press and upgraded toiletries in the bathroom. Breakfast on two occasions was a varied buffet with a good choice of hot and cold items with a fresh fruit choice. Room service on the first night was smooth with the food arriving within 15 minutes. We decided to have Dinner on the second night and booked a table with the receptionist who confirmed our booking with the restaurant. On arrival at the restaurant we were told that there was a limited Restaurant service as we were the only guests. A quick decision was made and we were offered room service instead and were asked to choose from the room menu. A good outcome, the food was delivered within 15 minutes. The Sauna and steam room were weill maintained but the pool was very small and it did not take long before it was very crowded. Good hotel but the staff were indifferent and robotic. Maybe would stay again but there are other alternatives in the area. Rated 4 out of 5 : I thought that this hotel was great value for money. the rooms were comfortable and adequate and the hotel itself was very well presented, public areas, reception etc. It just felt like a nice place to be. Normally, I'm ok with just having a bed, TV and a clean bathroom but having stayed in some far more expensive hotels recently where my experience was not great - it really makes a difference to be in a hotel where I felt comfortable and relaxed in my surroundings. The staff were all very friendly and pleasant and whilst I had a couple of occasions to speak to reception about things which weren't correct, this did not unduly spoil my experience, as they were rectified almost immediately. Also, I did not get to use the leisure facilties but they looked great and I will definitely be doing so the next time I stay. I liked the fact that it was close enough to London for me to get to where I was going quickly, but easy to find and without the stress and pressure that comes with having to navigate London, and parking... My only comment, if I had to say anything slightly negative - its a bit dificult to find the entrance in the dark, but this is not a major issue. |
