A guest to the Holiday Inn Express Epsom rated the experience as 5 out of 5 and said:
first of all the hotel is not sign posted, without the trusty sat nav i would still be looking for it. it is right opposite epsom racecourse, on arival to the large carpark the hotel looks very new and with only 3 cars parked it was quiet that day. very quick check in, staff polite and friendly, our room was ready and we were in with in a few minutes, hotel and room was spotless, a double bed and a double pull out sofa bed which was already set up for us. at the rear of the hotel there is a path leading you to the Rubbing House pub and restaurent located on epsom downs racecourse, excellent food and service. for an hour in the evening we sat in the bar/lounge and watched tv on the large screen before retiring to our comfy room. plenty of choice at breakfast, would recommend and will stay there again if in the area, only a few miles from Chessington world of adventures.

The hotel is quite new, built in the last year. The staff at reception were friendly and helpful. The room was very nice with all the usual extras but the option of a soft or firm pillow was strange. There was one of each on the bed, if you wanted to both have the same type of pillow there was no extra in the room, you had to phone the reception to ask for a pillow! Our room was opposite a oorway to the stairway, be warned the door banged every time someone went through it so if you are a light sleeper it is not the room to have! The breakfast was chaos. When we arrived down at 9.30am nearly every seat was taken, there was not enough staff to clear he tables. When we reached the breakfast bar there was no cups, bowls, bread rolls or croissants. The staff were not able to cope with the demand which was very irritating, having to ask several times and get up and down from the table to see if the missing items were replaced. Our friends lost the power supply to their room and had to call reception 3 times to get it fixed which resulted in them being late for breakfast and nearly missing it. Still, overall it has a lovely location and this wouldn't pit us off booking again!

Very helpful & polite staff. A very clean and quiet room. Leisurely breakfast time. Comfortable lounge area. Reasonably priced.Ideal for my purpose.
Disliked: Please put an instruction booklet in each room. I spent 10 minutes trying to find out how to work the power & lighting before I discovered the slot by the door! Other instructions would be useful e.g. meal times, etc. Some drawer and cupboard space needed. There was nowhere to put clothes.
Overall: I found it a very pleasant stay and reasonably near to my family in Epsom although a bit off the beaten track for public transport.

For an Express hotel this was a very comfortable, high quality hotel. Our room was ready with the bedding for our toddler. Basic breakfast, but adequate and inclusive. Would definitely recommend this hotel, and would probably stay again. Actually situated within the race course. Only noisy guests coming home at 3.30am was unappreciated.
