A happy Holiday Inn Express Park Royal guest rated the experience 5 out of 5 :
I booked the HI Express-Park Royal through Hotwire for a 9 night stay in March. Price could not be beat for what I got. Room -- This is a solid American-style hotel. Big room (including couch and desk), plenty of towels and pillows, and the room always exceptionally cleaned. Double planed windows meant noise from outside (my room -- a double -- faced the road) was minimal, plus since it was a bit cold, I could store drinks in between the outside and inside windows and they stayed cold! Almost like having a refrigerator in the room. Shower was strong and plenty of hot water. Bed comfortable but not luxurious. TV had more channels than you'd expect. Location -- is brilliant unless you just have to be in the center of everything. Hotel is just behind North Acton station on Central line. No more than 5 minutes from train to front door. I've seen reviews indicating the area is deserted at night, but I didn't find that to be the case. I returned as late as midnight on a few occasions and there were always people about. If at a weekend the Central line is closed for engineering works, that could be a problem, but just in front of the hotel is a bus stop where you can catch a bus to Hammersmith (Picc line) and some other stations. There is a convenience store on premises, plus a petrol station next door that's open late, a Tesco Express across the road open from 6-11, a coffee shop across the road, a pub on the corner, and a cafe round the corner. Most anything you'd need. Service - I found the service to be excellent. I was able to check in early and store my bag overnight before checkout. Staff were always helpful even advising me how to find a local service laundry (the prices for the hotel to do it were a bit much). The cost of hi-speed wifi was high but to check emails and basic stuff, there is a common internet station where you can get 20 minutes for a pound. More expensive than some internet cafes in town, but it's convenient to have it right there in the lobby. Food - I had the breakfast there everyday and found it to be satisfactory. Bagels, toast, fruit, yogurt -- the usual continental. The nice part is that the breakfast area was always clean, and there was always plenty of food and drink. I did not eat in the restaurant for dinner. Overall, this was the best hotel experience I've had in London all things considered. The hotwire rate just could not be beat and the nice, quiet room, plentiful breakfast and excellent service really made my trip a delight. Again, unless you just have to be in or right near central London, this is an excellent choice for hotel.

'll start with the bad things. On our last night I asked the man in the reception to book us a taxi for our early morning flight. He was pleased to do that but he seemed a bit nervous when calling this taxi. However, the taxi gave us a fixed price on our request, and the next morning we got a call from the reception, that the taxi was waiting for us. It was dark and we were half asleep when we boarded the taxi, and only after a couple of minutes of driving I realised the cab didn't look like a normal london cab, instead it was a normal car. The driver was driving very fast and then I noticed there was no taxi meter. This guy was indian, so was the receptionist, and I started counting one plus one. However, I was too afraid to ask anything, as he was driving like crazy and I didn't want to get in any more trouble. Finally at the airport I stepped out of the "cab" and noticed there was no "taxi"-sign on the roof or anything. I took my bags and questioned the driver, where was his taxi lisence or something similar. Obviously, there was none. I was furious and threatened to go to the police, and the driver drove away very quickly. This left us a veeeery bad taste of the whole trip and the hotel!!! So BEWARE OF THE STAFF! Obviously the receptionist called his mate to drop us off and it seemed like we weren't the only victims, as the driver was acting properly, carrying our bags etc. Otherwise the hotel is clean , comfortable and spacious. Just above the tube station. If you like to get a clean, standard room, and don't mind half an hour tube travel to the center, select this hotel.

Disliked: No broadband instructions
Overall: Good

Rated 4 out of 5 :
Hotel was conveniently placed next to North Acton tube station. I did not eat at the hotel apart from a continental breakfast so cannot comment on the food. All the staff were foreign so communication was a little more difficult than normal, however they were very pleasant. For ?50 it was good value and would stay again at that rate.
