| Rated 4.1 out of 5 : A very nice and clean hotel. We enjoyed our stay there, the staff was particularly helpful and the hotel is located in close proximity to the subway station. Rated 4.5 out of 5 : The outside of the hotel is very deceiving, it does not look appealing at all! But from the moment we walked into the hotel I was impressed. The service was good, the cleanliness was good and everything looked nice. We were shown to our room and it was lovely! The bed was comfy, the TV had a lot of choice, the shower was lovely and warm and the breakfast was fresh and a great value. The kitchen was self serve for breakfast and its a lovely kitchen and lounge area :) if I was going to stay in London again, I would consider using this hotel, good all round! Rated 3 out of 5 : The hotel is situated on a very busy road right next to the Bow Church DLR. I was a bit scared that would mean a lot of street noise, but the basement room I had was pretty quiet. Had a perfect complementary WIFI connection all through my stay. My only concern with this hotel -and many others for that matter-is the fact that they really should try and cleanup the stains and cracks on the walls and carpet. It was perfectly clean otherwise, a standard basic small sized room. Public transport is conveniently close by, as is a small supermarket. The breakfast/lounge area is somewhat peculiar. The staff is very friendly so all in all this has been a good stay in a cheap no frills hotel. Rated 4.1 out of 5 : Liked: Relatively inexpensive. Situated within 200 metres of a London underground station. Situated within walking distance of the 2012 London Olympic site presently under construction. Staff friendly and fairly accommodating. Room was clean, beds were comfortable and washroom facilities were new. I was concerned about the area but it seemed to be going through a rejuvenation with many new apartment buildings and office buildings available, and a shopping mall under construction. Disliked: Washroom was very small. It was difficult to bend down to dry yourself after showering. Hotel required a 3-1/2% surcharge for using a credit card. The hotel encouraged me to pay in cash. There did not appear to be any restaurants in the immediate area and the public houses only catered for lunchtime meals. I would not recommend it as a family hotel. Overall: Overall this was excellent value for money providing a convenient commute to central London. Rated 4.7 out of 5 : Liked: CityStay Hotel was an excellent location for us as we have friends who live close by and the Central Line and DLR just minutes away. The staff were lovely and even admitted that they like to treat their guests like family. They had a kitchen stocked with fresh food and the tea and coffee, bananas and cereal were all complimentary! The ingredients to a fry up were all provided and for 3 GPB you could prepare yourself a great breakfast! You can't catch a deal like that anywhere in dear London! The amenities, the staff and the cleanliness of the rooms and hotel were pleasant surprises. Disliked: The hotel is located on a main road and it was noisy at night. Perhaps a room in the rear of the building would be better? Overall: Pleasantly surprised and would definitely recommend to friends. Rated 3.5 out of 5 : My room was clean and the bed very comfortable there is a pleasant communal lounge/kitchen where you can help yourself to teas coffee and breakfast. There is also free Wi-Fi and the location is convenient to get into the City. However, if you need to work in the evening, or you like to sit and watch television in your own room, then, based on my room, (201) it's not for you. There was no desk or chair. The location is also unglamorous lacking in attractive restaurants and bars. However, you are very close to the tube and DLR and you can easily get to the West End. So if you don't mind a small room and don't mind not being in a lively part of town, this is a great budget hotel. |
