| Rated 4.4 out of 5 : Liked: Excellent, clean, hotel with superb service. Great views from bar. Restaurant menu choice very good. Disliked: Restaurant lacks ambience. No milk in room for drinks. No instructions for coffee machine. Traffic to hotel grid locked in late afternoon - takes ages. It is a 1 mile walk to the nearest station. Overall: Would stay again - an out of the way but lovely place to spend an evening. Rated 5 out of 5 : from clapham junction take the 170 bus to lombard road stop follow sign to heliport as hotel down this road,hotel signage not too obvious.the hotel bar and restaurant are very good with excellent presentation.the bedrooms are very nice with coffee nespresso machine,plasma tv,instructions for these would have been good also milk and biscuits would have been nice,we would stay again. Rated 5 out of 5 : This was our second visit to the hotel,we usualy stay in different hotels in London at least once a month,but came back to this one again. The staff here are very good especialy the bar staff,rooms are great and the bed does make you feel like staying in it all day. Breakfast is fantastic but on a negative the service has been rather slow on the two occasions we have stayed. Another problem was our cards not opening the room door,probably a teething problem with the hi tech gadget!!! All in all we are very impressed with the hotel and will be going back again shortly. Rated 5 out of 5 : I stayed at this hotel with my wife for one night to celebrate my birthday after seeing a special offer on lastminute.com. On the whole, this hotel is excellent for service, food and facilities provided and I would definitely recommend it for a city break. On arrival we were assisted with our luggage and the offered valet parking. The check-in service was seamless. I especially rate Maria who works on the front desk and was very helpful in showing us to our room and other requests made during the stay. The fact that she realised it was my birthday and surprised me with a complimentary cake was a special touch that you will not get at most hotels. The room was spacious, elegantly layed out and equipped with a plasma screen including connections for laptop/ipod. There was even plasma in the bathroom. The food was exquisite. I would stay here just for the food alone!! The open style kitchen is great and the restaurant provides good views of the river Thames. I enjoyed my lunch, dinner and breakfast. The spa was very stylish and exclusive. My only reservation was that the sauna and steam room needed to be turned up a bit, but that is a personal preference and not a reflection on the workings. The only suggestion would be better signage in the surrounding roads as it is nestled away and unless you knew it was adjacent to the heliport then you may miss it! Well done von Essen! |
