The Ibis London Gatwick hotel was rated 4 out of 5 by a guest:
The hotel was clean and nicely presented. It was fine for one nights stay. I read the negative reviews and wondered what I had let myself in for, as it was I would recommend this place to friends without a problem. It is not a luxury hotel, but it is very good value, looks quite new, the rooms were nicely set out, good powerfull shower, nice flat screen TV on the wall at the end of the bed. The hotel looked clean, there was a bar and restaurant in the lobby area, but we didn't use it. The food menu looked like what you would expect in a Wetherspoons and seemed quite good value. The shuttle bus to the airport is ?3 each, each way, 10 minute journey. They come approx every 30 mins, you can't miss it, it is a minibus with the Ibis logo all over it. They collect and drop off at bus stop 12 right outside the South terminal (if I remember correctly), just follow the signs for the hotel buses/coaches, you can't miss them and there will be plenty of other people stood around waiting for other hotel buses. The buses start at approx 4am, so no need to worry about those early flights (we had to be at the airport for 5.10am). My girlfriend found the bed comfy, but I have a dodgy back and did find the matress a little thin, so if you are not damaged goods, then I am sure you will also find the beds fine!!

Rated 4 out of 5:
I trawled reviews for so many different hotels when I needed somewhere to stay before flying out of Gatwick. I was pleasantly suprised to find that the check-in desk assistant was super friendly and helpful and got me to my room quickly, where I found a newly renovated room with flat-screen TV and an ultra-comfy bed (that's if you like firm mattresses). The only minus points were a bad smell in the bathroom, eminating from the drain in the shower, and a small rip in the duvet cover. The hotel was nice and quiet (I had a room at the back, facing away from the main road) and I slept for a solid 7 hours ... VERY unusual for me in a hotel! Check-out was equally efficient. An important tip though is to arrive early for the mini-bus shuttle to the airport. I wanted to catch the 7.30am shuttle as did about 14 other people, three of whom couldn't fit and so had to find alternative transport. Overall it was a great way to start my holiday

Rated 3.9 out of 5:
Liked: Cleanliness was notable. I particularly liked the "pod" bathroom - good shower. Staff were friendly & happy to supply extra pillows & towels.
Disliked: Car parking was very unsatisfactory. Access to the upper car park is extremely tight - we were in a medium sized estate car and very thankful it was nothing larger. On return to the hotel finding no spaces on the ground floor we arain went up into the upper floor to find no spaces there either. Turning was not easy and then we found another car coming up the one-way ramp at the same time we were trying to get down, despite the green light being on for us! We were not at all impressed to then be told at reception that we had to drive to off-site parking some distance away and walk back to the hotel. Bearing in mind we had paid ?5 for our parking and were at no time (booking or check in) told of the possibility that we would not get on-site parking.
Overall: Was excellent until seriously marred by the bad parking experience.

Rated 5 out of 5:
This was the cheapest option for the night we were looking for, we flew out of Gatwick the following morning... I would highly recommend this hotel, it was modern, clean and the staff were lovely. Our room was much better than we had expected for the price we paid and it was a short distance to the airport which was perfect. We didn't have to pay for parking either, which we had expected to pay (?5 a night it said on the website) Overall I'd say this place was great and I would recommend it to anyone.

review: Stayed over night prior to flying from Gatwick early the next morning. Pleased with this hotel: friendly, efficient staff. Wake up call on time, food good. Early breakfast available. All required facilities in room, clean and well lit, modern and well furnished. A good start to a holiday!
